Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Pours a hazy golden color with a nice frothy white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, pine and malt. Aroma is pretty big considering that this is a smaller beer. Flavor of hops, malt and a touch of sweetness. Very drinkable pale ale and a good sessionable or lawn mowing beer as well.

Very good beer. Reminded me of a toned down version of their IPA. I enjoyed it but I would probably stick to the IPA.

Straw with good, foamy white head / Big, fresh pine nose with faint citrus undertone / LIght body, watery, with sharp hops and good finish / Flavors of fresh pine with undertones of pineapple and with dry, herbasceous finish / Needs just a little more oomph to the body.

Draught Pale gold, small white head. Fresh hops, nose of grapefruit and fresh dates, very perfumey. Bitter, slightly metallic flavour, lots of different fruity notes. Medium bodied, refreshing. Very refreshing (if served too cold), not to overly hopped, balance is there.
