Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

22 oz. bottle - pours clear gold with good amount of carbonation; big white head that settles nicely around the edges and leads to lacing; fresh hop aromas are full and sweet; drinks clean and crisp with lovely creamy texture coming through at the bottom of the glass

11-6-07 Bottle. Watery gold color with really nice head that lasted forever. Muted citris earthy aroma - hints of oak too. Very very very carbonated. The carbonation overpowers the taste. Flavor just isnt there like I want or expect it to be. Somewhat weak and watery for me. Metallic finish to boot - just not my favorite.

Bottle courtesy of dirty_martini. Pours gold with a nice white head. Smells of flowers, grass, lots of citrus, some tea, hints of biscuits. Taste yields a nicely balanced bitterness with some dry malt and touches of sweetness on the finish. One of the best APAs I’ve had to date.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a slightly cludy orange-gold color with a big foamy clumpy white head with plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with pine, cedar and citrus. The Flavor is semi-sweet with caramel, butterscotch, light citrus and biter hops. The mouthfeel is sliky smooth, but it is just a wee bit thinner than I expected. The Finish is long and clean. Overall: This is a fine pale ale. Recommended.

The last time I had this was from a growler. It had a light golden color. Floral hop aroma. Very light bodied. Slight fruit (lemon) flavor was a characteristic as well.
