Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

750. Thanks, after4ever! Pours hazy gold with a massive, fluffy white head. Sweet aroma of pine and pineapple. Light body, moderate carbonation. Crisp piney finish. This is the deluxe session beer. Why can’t we get it here?

Bottled, consumed on 10/20/07. Pours a hazy yellow (think Hoegarden, but darker). Well, it does after the RIDICULOUSLY frothy gigantic white head dissipates enough for beer to be seen. Aroma is mild piny hops with a grassy note. Malty and mild on the mouth, with a tart citrus flavor appearing shortly. Tingly without being too parching, the smooth beer leaves almost no aftertaste save for a hint of astringency on the tongue and a memory of alcohol in the throat. A really nice summer beer.

750. Thanks, Foolish_mortal! This is a pure refreshment kind of beer. Pours deep golden amber, cloudy, with a towering thick whipped egg white head and sheets of puffy lace all the way down. Big sweet pine, almost air fresh-ner-y, for a nose. Certainly Columbus-esque. Medium body, tingly but not raw carb, and washes of refreshing pine all over the place on the mid-palate. Gently clingy bittersweet finish. Lovely stuff. Sensational summer beer.

Beautiful golden color with frothy white head and decent lacing. Citrus and pine on the nose. Great malt and hop balance with this one. Hops are wonderful on the palette and the malt flavors are very nice on the finish. Darn good beer.

Thanks to lamas for the bottle. 22 oz. bomber. Poured hazy golden with fluffy white head with splotchy lacing. Sweet malts dominate the hops in the one. Clean and crisp, would make for a nice session pale ale.

What a great beer. Hempy, slightly piny aroma with a hint of citrus... definitely my favorite hop aroma. Just the right amount of malt to balance it out. It’s so smooth, I could drink it all day. Fantastic. Cheers!

slightly hazy yellowy orange with a thin white head. Not too sweet or malty. forward, but subtle amarillo (?) hops. A little corny? A bit thin, not watery, low carbonation. a bit corny again? Forward, not overwhelming hops. A bit flavorless somehow? Refreshing and good on a hot one. Clean finish.

22oz bottle: Pours a slightly hazy gold with lots of head. Bright piney aroma that exceeds the beer. Great citrus and pine hop flavor with a light mouthf eel. I would call this a great session beer for hop fans.
