Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Another great beer from alesmith... Has a great citrus aroma with a malty taste to it. Hoppy finish but not too dry. Crisp taste good for the palate.

Hazy yellow-gold w/ a lovely finger of white foam. Good lacing. Fresh aroma of citrus & pine Light, mildly sticky feel. Clean, fresh hop flavour w/ a delicate sweetness. Finish is relatively quick, but refreshing & sufficiently bitter.

Bomber, with thanks to WeeHeavySD for this BONUS, pours a clear light golden with a sizable, fluffy stark white head, great lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus and floral. Flavor is a nice milder hops bite that lingers. Palate is crisp and clean. Another solid brew from AleSmith, good stuff!

Courtesy SoLan. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a thick, foamy white head. Very well retained. Smells of mild floral hops which made it a pleasant smell. Maybe a touch of some spice in there too. The taste has some bitterness to it with hops backing it up. Easy drinking on the palate. The whole beer has a subtleness to it that makes it enjoyable to drink. Th flavor is still there, but not strong. Quality as usual from these guys.

Commercial description is very close. I’m not getting the sweet and sour effect and the carbonation is balanced as opposed to smooth. Rather than balance, the malt adds just enough sweetness, the hops are the show. Great pale. Great summer brew.
