Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

650 mL bottle. Yellow amber with fine bubbles and a foamy white head. Hoppy aroma, crisp, bitter taste. Decent.

22 oz bottle thanks to pantanap for this extra. Pours a yellow orange color with a tall head. Nose is very PNW IPA. Grapefruit/citrus/pine notes with carmel all over. Carmelly light flavors hints of grapefruit and lemon. A little watery, and somewhat subpar for an american pale ale. But I bet this is great on tap.

22oz bottle. thanks to pantanap for this extra. nose isn’t very hoppy sorta that flutter of stale hops in what may have once been a hoppy PNW pale ale. i’m guessing not very fresh. flavor is more of the same, probably not that fresh, so i’ll have to re-rate.

Thank you to DrewBeerMe for this great beer. Very Strong American hop aroma. Golden color with large long lasting head. Balanced malt and bitterness with oranges and other citrus notes. Med to small body with little carb. Overall very tasty.

Smells of citrus and hops. Very well balanced taste of hops and citrus with a good bitterness ending.

Very soft mouthfeel, an old style pale ale, great with lunch as sessionable. Understated bitterness and citrus lemon. Dry finish and bitter aftertaste.

Aroma of light malts and grapefruit hops. Flavor was dry, grassy and lightly bitter. Poured real light with a slight orange tint to it. Pretty solid pale ale but not ovewhelming at all.

LIght malt aroma accompanied by some citrus hop. Light golden color with tiny bubbles. White head that seems to attempt lacing. Starts with a balance of malt and light hop. Medium mouthfeel. It’s light all right, but it is wonderful to drink. The finish seems dry and lightly bitter.
