Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Pours clear golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of orange and lemon with a touch of malt. Taste is citris and pine with an undercurrent of malt for balance. Very clean and bright with a dry finish. Almost champagne like. Good stuff Maynard.

Clear golden brown beer topped off with a fluffy white head. Aroma is full of apricots with hints of pine. Moderate bitterness, citrusy hop flavors balanced by cereal like malts. Not bad, thanks rudy.

Bottle at The Local, SD, CA. Poured clear amber hue with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Heavy aroma of citrus hops and tart fruit. Medium to full body. Well balanced flavor of malt, hops and fruit with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a solid drinkable brew.

One beautiful looking beer. Aroma and flavor have a strong lemon-herb tea character. Nice effort from Alesmith again.

From a 22 oz. bomber bottle with blurb on the back of bottle, no freshness date, sampled at a cool temperature in a pint glass. Poured with a slight chill haze, an orangey golden with fluffy, foamy white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of laced sticking. Aromas of orange rind, earthy hops, sweet grain bready malts and fruity yeast. Good even carbonation and a crisp, dry, hop slick, velvety smooth light-medium bodied mouthfeel. Great APA taste, citric, a soft pine, dry earthy leafy hops that have a mild, but lingering bitterness in the palate, a subtle fruitiness from the yeast, pale grainy maltiness, and a citric rind, dry hop, malty finish. One of best APA I’ve tried, quite quaffable, I need to get more of this.

22 oz. Bottle, Sweet citrus aroma. Gold body with white head and mild lacing. Flavor was bitter to start with. Malt added some sweet citrus sour flavor to subdue bitterness. Sweet syrups citrus on palate. Decent beer.

Bottle. Pours a nice, clear, golden color with an average head. Fresh, pine-like aroma. The flavor is very light to begin with but comes on much stronger in the after taste. Probably my favorite pale ale that i’ve tried so far.
