When you pour it a piney citrus and malt aroma jumps out at you. Flavors of lemon citrus, hops, and a balanced malt flavor. Flavors are not that strong, and the beer is very smooth and drinkable. Nice clean golden color, great aroma of hops and fruit, definitely an american pale ale and not an IPA, but very well balanced hop flavor. marcus (1902), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2006 This golden ale poured with a nice off-white head. Initially, there is a sweet citrus flavor and a crisp mouthfeel, with a dry more bitter finish. This is a good everyday beer, but not quite up to the very high AleSmith standard. Pours a hazy straw and supports a tall rocky off-white head with great retention. Wonderful aroma of fresh cut flowers, hops, pine and citrus. Beatifully balanced flavors very much in line with the aroma all playing off of a solid malty backbone. Rich and smooth mouthfeel and a crisp, dry finish. This is really nice pale with plenty of flavor and character. SledgeJr (2983), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

The aroma is spicey with lemons and coriander orange. I’m definitely pulling down some esters here. Lots of complexities and a drying finish. Sure, there’s serious bitterness, but this is neither the hopenstein or Count Maltula that most AleSmith beers monstrously bring. Could this be the AleSmith session beer counterpart to the Stone’s Pale Ale for the lucky SD drinker?

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Jun 16, 2006 Pours bright sparkling king tut gold w/ a full spritzy froth. Aromas of wet herbs and spice. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are delicate and complex w/ lemon rind, herbs, spice, and a subtle asprin dryness on the finish. Not a malt bomb at all. This is very complex. The bittering comes like a ghost in the night while you sleep. All is quiet then you’re awakened and suddenly immersed in a Hitchcock thiller. Bloody awsome I say. Well balanced. A session brew by far. Highly recommended. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
