-Scant head over the cloudy yellow haystack.
-Starfruit and lemon pulp levitate over the cereal, creating an uplifting aroma.
-The flavor is consequential, with an emphasis on the fresh hay, citrusy hop fruitiness and grassy hop bitterness.
-Tight bubbles frolick in a lean, quenching body.
What if you dig deeper?
-Recurrent saltiness hugs the hop profile.
-Very fresh herbal, flowery hop bitterness sticks to the haystack.
-Shy sweetness is given by the malt, in the form of honeydew.
-A competent pale ale with an interesting countryside touch.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 11, 2006 Average, disappointingly average, bland, not even close to Anchor or Sierra ales. I think this Alesmith thing is a bit overrated. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA

Yellow grapefruit aroma; piney, citric hops all the way; light, doughy malts, some honey; tingly, watery palate; lingering, dry finish. Good. CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2006 The least fantastic of the alesmith beers. Still, it’s good. I would have prefered some more flavor, but I imagine this is exactly what the 4 alesmiths want their light-bodied beer to be. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA

I dont know why but I couldnt get past this beer smelling and tasting like peanut butter. It’s really malty and sweet. I could dig more hops. blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2005 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small lasting creamy white head. Mild aroma of fresh citrus hops and a touch of malt. Flavour is well balanced between fresh citrusy hops and biscuity malt, it’s simple but it works well. Lighter bodied and milder then the other AleSmiths, this would be a fantastic session Ale, especially on tap. If this is one of a brewery’s lowest rated beers then they’re certainly doing something right. GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Golden-orange colour with a small white head. Fresh hops on the nose with some roasted grain in the background - very nice. Flavour has a quick hit of honey off the top, some lemon tea in the middle, and a nicely hopped finish. Another great American session ale that we can’t get locally - have I mentioned lately how frustrated I am by the lack of good US beers at the LCBO? Argh.
