Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Bottle. Hazy amber with a big off-white head. Citrus hop aroma with some sweet malt underneath. Balanced malt/hop flavor - citrus hops with some chocolate/caramel malt flavors. Lighter bodied and easy drinking.

Hazy yellow with soap ring around the edge. Lacing. Aroma is mellon. Enticing. Flavor is woody, oaky. With evidence of hops. Full body. My favorite alesmith so far.

Bottle: Pale golden, slightly hazy, large white foamy head, lattice like lacing, little to no carbonation.   Dried hop aroma, very slight pine.   Nice hop bite up front, bitterness lingers throughout til the finish.   Slight malty base, a touch sweet.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Crisp finish, fairly strong, yet smooth, bitterness lingers.   Enjoyable.

Courtesy of Pailhead. Golden in color with big off-white head, made of tiny bubbles. Nice hop aroma citrus, pine and floral all blended together. Flavor has initial malt sweetness to it but finishes all hops with a slightly skunky kick. Tastes a little musty. Nice APA just not my style.

From the bomber this pours a cloudy light yellow/orange, this might have been a bit shaken up, but i don’t know if it’s bottle conditioned or not. Massive citrus hops in the aroma. The sweet malt up front didn’t last long against the hops, quickly overtaken and finishes like a big ol hoppy pale should.

Nice large head of rather big bubbles. Nice ring lacing as it reduces. Light carbonation. Nice sweet fruity aroma with peaches a bit of citrus and a decent helping of hops. Color is a medium gold. Plenty of hops in the flavor with a hint of roastyness in the background. More citrus and a somewhat dry palate. Pretty well balanced. A bit of fruit pokes through at the finish. A very good pale ale and a great example of the style.

Bottle: Courtesy of Foolish_Mortal via trade. Aroma is moderately sweet with a nice citrusy and piney hop balance. Pours a transparent gold with a hint of orange with a nice white head and very good retention. Excellent lacing. Nice caramel presence up front in the flavor. Nice pine hop balance in the finish. A very good APA.

(Bottle) Pours a clear yellow body with a huge frothy long-lasting (quite the staying power) egg-white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. A mildly hoppy flavor.
