| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2005 Pours a golden/orange sort of a color. Aroma is sweet and malty. A little bit of a hoppy aroma as well. Malty sweet flavor up front. Some hoppy bitterness is present as well. I like the maltiness in this beer. Nice stuff. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Looks paler than most major Americal light lagers with a very bigh white cloudy head and lace that stays the whole time. Nice aromatic and citrus hops in the aroma. Clean nice combo of hop bitterness and a less prominent toasty malt balance. Bitterness is plesant not harsh, and there is some sweetness in the finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2005 Nice white head, decent lingering, pale yellow golden color. Nice resiny bitter hop aroma with underlying sweet malt notes. Medium light body with a crispness that suggests use of less syrupy pale malts than normally used in American pales. Lacks a truly quenching palate, the crispness in the body did not carry appreciably to the finish. Decently balanced, but I expected more character in addition to balance from AleSmith. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Draft from San Diego Brewing Co. Golden Amber clear with a decent head. Hoppy finish for a very decent Pale Ale. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 26, 2005 Sampling a 22oz bottle I got in the mail from Hi Time Wine, I poured it in my Duvel glass and watched an incredible Duvel-esque head form and overflow the glass. Has a clear golden hue and a large bubbled tall white head, reminding me of many Belgian golden ales. The nose is corrosive and musty hops, with a metallic twang and an unpleasent sourness. Flavor is tinny hop bitterness with a significant void of malt presence and sweetness. The palate is left wanting, as there’s really no body, no bold or flavorful hop finish, and only more of the tinny flavors left coating the mouth. Not that I was expecting a hop monster, but I was at least expecting more substance from this beer. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Obtained in a trade with DarkElf. Very clear pale golden with a THICK white head. Aroma of grapefruit, floral hops and light fruitiness. Taste and body is fuller than I expected. Sweet and malty with notes of grain, grass, floral hops, grapefruit and lemon. Bitter hop aftertaste. Medium and creamy on the palate with moderate carbonation. Lacing hangs on the glass in sheets, great head retention. Just a great session beer. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2005 Light golden body with an average white head. No idea when this was bottled, but it was purchased in 12/04 in SoCal. Fresih cut grass aroma with rhubarb leaf and white bread malt. The flavor might be described as "catty". It has a sharp lemongrass note that dominates the pale malt and piney hops. Dry finish with the same lemongrass hops. This would be a wonderful beer to have cold on a hot day but it doesn’t work as as a contemplative beer as it’s a little too one-dimensional and rough.
