Aroma is rather straightforward and citric, tart with pine, lemon and fresh C-hops. Alright malt backbone, lemon pie and biscuity. Clean altogether and tarter than most which contributes to refreshment. Dry lasting hoppy finish. Light body with bubbles not as apparent as expected. Fine basic beer. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2005 Clear straw-colored body, huge off-white pillowy head. Appealing aroma of biscuit, caramels and spicy, earthy, floral hops. Light, biscuity malt body with plenty of spicy, earthy hops and hints of pine, finishing slightly sour, perhaps an indication this is getting on in months. This bottle came from Joe’s (marinaro500) mountain of beer...I hope it hasn’t tipped over and trapped him, although being buried under hundreds of amazing beers wouldn’t be the worst way to go. pivo (2535), Germany

Thinnish gritty malt body. Some citrus and a slightly grassy finish. OK brew, but not as good as other Alesmiths. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2004 Brilliant golden with fluffy head. Tart lemony citrus aroma, some orange rind as well. Supple malt (especially for a beer this pale, how’d they do that?) is very nice. Hops flavor is more orange rind and lemons. A bit gassy, really my only criticism, as this one’s a real winner MayorQuimby (100), Santa Barbara, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 12, 2004 Bottle. Pours a light golden color, nice white head. Pleasant gentle hop aroma. Very smooth, probably from bottle conditioning, a bit of sweet maltiness though the ample hop flavor balances it out. Hops come through in the finish, as does some lemon peel flavor. Overall very crisp and drinkable, a better version of BBC Steel Rail, the most important beer of my college days. johnyvt (157), West Hollywood, California, USA

Light mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Silky smooth taste is counterbalanced by the sourness of lemon and grass, along with a little bit of hop bitterness. I’d prefer this to be a little stronger, but it’s certainly one of the best PAs I’ve tried. A great session beer. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
