Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Hazy, almost hefeweizen-like color. Light mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Silky smooth taste is counterbalanced by the sourness of lemon and grass, along with a little bit of hop bitterness. I’d prefer this to be a little stronger, but it’s certainly one of the best PAs I’ve tried. A great session beer.

Poured a light and hazy golden yellow color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of grasses, earthy and kinda of on the skunky side. Fizzy body. I really did not care for this one too much.

22oz brown bomber with a plain silk screen lettering of Alesmith X, extra pale ale. The one pours a slightly hazy yellow with a good looking white foamy head with decent retention. Aroma is not too strong but floral and citrus hops are mingling around. This tastes slightly sweet with citrus hop and tart malt flavors melding together to balance out this refreshing brew. This has a light body with a decent amount of carbonation. This is not one of Alesmith’s stand out brews but a good one anyway. A little light in feel and taste then most pale ales this should make for a refreshing drink on a hot day.

Bottled. Hazy golden. Striking grapefruit aroma. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel. Lingering citric hoppiness. Very bitter finish. An easy going but very well balanced ale with a lot of character on it’s own.

Looks real watery and has a has a fools gold hue. Aroma is faint and of grass. Taste isn’t what i had expected from alesmith but its alright and is fairly decent PA. Flavor: equal sugar, sour grass, lemon, and light hops.

Bruised lemon skin. Subtle aroma of fruits, mainly pear, but also a touch of peach and melon. Fairly hoppy in the aroma. Solid, satisfying flavor with a nice hoppy and fruity flavor with notes of lemon, grapefruit and orange. Bready, sweet malts come next followed by a notes of peach. Creamy, bubbly, exploding mouthfeel. This beer really fades on the finish. Silly me, I wanted just a little more assertion.
