Very lite aroma that (as another taster described) you really needed the commercial description to describe. I had initially thought herby and grassy, and I guess if you are thinking lemon grass that might be right on. I would describe the aftertase as bitter nut shell. Seemed like this beer lacked the body to handle the hops they used. Oh well, it won’t stop me from trying other Ale Smith treats. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 6, 2004 Hazy yellow beer with a foamy white head. Mild and fresh hoppy and flowery aroma. Hops and citrus in the flavor with fruity and flowery notes. Dry finish. A good classic pale ale, but definately not the most interesting from AleSmith :-) Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2004 the "x’ alesmith had a HUGE head at first.then slowly disapaited.very light colored body with little bubbles floating to the top.the overall flavor is very good.although i would say its very similar to there e.s.b.(although thats not a bad thing.)the flavor is a bit light and spicey in the beginning, then nutty at the end.this is yet another really good alesmith. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 21, 2004 It smells like lemon household cleaner. The beer has a solid yellow apperance. The flavor is somewhat sour but not very bitter. There is not much more going on besides the lemons! Im not unhappy drinking it but I expected something a little less one dimensional. Average. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2004 Poured yellow gold with thick white head...smells very floral maybe even some apple, then citrus fruits...I would not have been able to put it to words without the commercial description, but it really does have a sweet and sour effect...definately citrus notes, malty overtones...a little disappointing though, not very hoppy at all...watery mouthfeel...interesting and fun to drink none the less... bierchik (95), lakewood, California, USA
