Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

Bought amn this is really good. Best pale I may have ever had. Amber pour. aroma is delicious. Hops, citrus, caramel, bread dough and maybe some pineapple. Flavor is full and awesome. Fruity and hoppy. Grapefruit, bread, caramel. Damn what a brew.

AleSmith X sounds maniacal, overbearing, even sinister. Turns out that the "X" moniker doesn’t really add anything bold to the flavor. The taste is similar to drinking a watered down glass of Sprite, after the ice melted away, making it bounce with some light fruit flavors and some bad quality water. The bittnerness is toned down, with most of the bite coming from the robust tartness. As for the color, it looks like Martinelli’s apple juice. Avoid at all costs.

22 ounce bought at Bottle Barn. Golden. Fruity, almost banana taste to this APA. Aroma is wine like. Very like and a bit sparkling. Not like most other APAs. Much lighter and citrus-ish in taste.

22 ounce bottle from Sparky27, though I was also sent one by BMan113VR. Thanks guys! Pours a hazy lemon yellow color with a frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops... grapefruit and orange especially. Taste is citrus and leafy hops. The taste shows some signs of life but is actually fairly bland compared to the aroma. Medium bodied. Good beer.

Odd nutty taste with an aggressive bitterness but mild hop taste. Low aroma and a bit thin. Enough hops to keep it interesting but it isn’t great. Disappointing as I can get so few beers from Alesmith.

The ultimate session beer, and what an EPA should taste like. Has a very lemony/grassy taste with a very smooth finish that leaves you wanting more.

Pours clear golden yellow with and impressively frothy head. Aroma of heavily floral hops with a matching flavor high in hops that provide a bitter and grassy component. Maintains a light body with a citrus sourness that allows for great drinkability.
