Flavor certainly has that spice and hops with a bitter and dry finish. The flavors are a little overpowering and the too bitter for my taste but the high alcohol content is well masked. shp555 (1681), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 7, 2007 This beer opens with the aroma of a pine forest, and pours a hazy tan with a thick white head that sticks around on top. The flavor of this beer is amazing, strong hop presence, with a somewhat syrupy and oily mouthfeel, and an amazingly long bitter finish. Pump up the hop profile, and lower the malt profile... while thinning the syrup a bit, and this would be a perfect 5. skoisirius (573), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a hazy orange goldish color with a nicely retentive white somewhat foamy head. Very sweet candyish and hoppy aroma. Notes of citrus, fruits, and vanilla are detectable as well. Flavor is amazing...lots of sweet malt up front with a very sticky mouthfeel. All sorts of hop directions are taken up on the palate: citrus, pine, bitter...all through the body, and into the finish. A big explosion in the mouth! Full texture, moderately carbonated, long lasting lingering finish. Absolutely one of the best DIPA’s available anywhere! Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA

Better than the imperial red however and not as intense on the body. Ability to integrate a beautiful tapestry of interwoven hop aromas and tastes was masterful. Finsih that sits with you awhile. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2007 I’ve had two bottles of this recently, one off the shelf and one shared at the Hampton on Dark Lord Day, and both really did not live up to the hype. I seem to be the third in a row. Hazy orange beer with a foamy cream colored head. Hoppy nose with an old toffee sweetness that seem to tended toward Barley Wine. Orange zest in the flavor with melted caramel notes and something metallic. Really reminded me of an aged Barley Wine, and an average one at that. jarspag (594), Los Angeles, California, USA

Great balance for a IIPA, a lot of pine in the taste with a touch of citrus and great malt background - very rich/lush. Awesome mouthfeel as it was smooth, chewy, and thick all in one. Coats the palate and leaves you longing for the next sip...def a favorite.
