Aug 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of lots of caramel malt and some citrusy hops. Flavor is also quite malty with citrus and a dry finish. Very refreshing on a hot summer day. A touch heavy but that’s really my only complaint. Nice beer!

Jul 31, 2009 Did not overly excite me, surprisingly so. I thought it would better. With that being said, it was still a good beer. Poured a clear light amber with a nose of fruit and hops. The flavor was that of citrus and fruit with a slight bit of spice on top of the malt. A decent double IPA, but not in the league of Majaraha, Hercules, 90 Min, Old 21, Pliny the Elder et al. Maybe, I need to try this one on draft to fully appreciate this beer. I am quite surprised that this beer is the 5th highest rated double IPA in the world.

Jul 31, 2009 Updated: Aug 2, 2009Hazy golden with an enormous foamy slightly off-white head. Ridiculous citrus grapefruit aroma. This beer is all about the hops. Crazy hoppy without being overly bitter, good malt sweetness and hop bitterness balance, but hop flavor dominates throughout. Hops linger on the tongue for a good long time. I F#*king love this beer. Why is this beer only brewed once a year? The lingering hop sensation on my tongue only escalates my desire for more of this awesome IIPA.

Jul 26, 2009 Bottle bonus from Snojerk321 (Thanks!). Clear golden orange/yellow pour with very little carbonation. Very well balanced aroma of sweet hops, apricot, malt and vanilla. Flavor was plenty of malt, biiter hops (not overpowering, almost sweet), and finished citrusy and lighter than expected. Solid DIPA, I can’t wait to get some more of this!

Jul 26, 2009 Very bubbly with a hazy yellow-orange color. Thin white head. Malty grain aroma with lots of citrusy hops. Very bitter with intense hop flavor. Grapefruit notes.

Jul 25, 2009 Thanks to my wife’s uncle Bill, I received two bottles. Just opened the first bottle. Every thing I love about a great west coast double IPA. Pours light orange to straw color with a cloudy hew. First sip is strong with hops and flavors of grapefruit, lemon rind, and pine. Malt is present but definately plays a second to the great hop flavor. The beautiful hops linger is a terrific way. Love this stuff. Wish I could get it here in PA.

Jul 22, 2009 Bought a bottle on 7/16/09 and drank it that night. Haven’t had a fresh one of these since ’07. Cloudy orange pour with a big off-white head. Tons of orange in the nose with some pine, grapefruit and sweet malt. Orange and pine flavor up front with sweet malt and a bitter grapefruit finish. Amazing.
