Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Wow - what a great beer. Big grapefruity hops on the nose and even more on tongue. Slightly piney and the perfect amber/copper color for an IPA. Highly recommended.

22oz bottle (2005) poured a clear copper color with a nice white long lasting head. Aromas of citrus, sweet malt and alcohol. Taste is smooth with not much bitterness and a lot of alcohol in the finish. Overall a good DIPA, but a little rough.

Out of a bottle Winter version. Aroma is very malty with complex hops some flowery citrus seedy and earthy notes. Pours an opaque orange amber, qith a large frothy head that lasts and good lacing. Flavor Heavy rich malts with a nice sourness followed by complex hops (grapefruit, citrus) earthy flowery vanilla. A nice big thick dry mouth feel. A delicious lingering flavor smooth feel coming down the throat.

I thought this was excellent. Not your super hopped up, nothing else flavor. It was well balanced, for IIPA, or so I felt. One individiual asked me if I could smell a little holiday cheer in this one, and in the middle of the heat wave we have had here, a nice refreshing smell of the christmas floral was very nice. Maybe it was my nose playing tricks on me, but I could smell the season. There was also the floral taste on this one followed by a warm alocohol feel. Excellent.

I went in to this expecting a lot & my expectations were exceeded. This was a present from a kind friend who vacationed in San Diego. Poured hazy dark orange / brown with an attractive beige head. Aroma has a TON of grapefruit hops with some pine aspects mixed in. There is also a healthy amount of sweet malt in the background. Full bodied beer with generous soft carbonation. Incredibly well balanced - thick rich caramel malt and piney citrus hops - almost a creamy feel to the taste. Finish get more piney and sharp, but the malt is still evident. One of the best beers I’ve had and easily the best balanced IIPA or IPA I think I’ve had. Excellent beer that I hope to have again.

Columbus gathering beer#10. Brought by Nolankowal. This was one from last xmas so it was a little mellowed. It was still very good, though id like to try a fresh one sometime. Was a little sweeter than their IPA but was still very hoppy. Mellowed into almost a light barleywine.
