The hops hit you right away as you drink this one, and linger for a while. Some sweet notes come through as well. Great flowering bitter finish. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a bright, glowing orange with a huge lasting head like many Alesmith beers. Predominantly a fresh orange, fruity smell. Taste is bitter orange rind, citrusy hops and a clean sharp, bubbly lively body that cuts through maiking it very easy to drink and refreshingly dry. Pretty nice all around and the alcohol is well hidden too. Nice beer. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Summer 2007. Amber color with a big sudsy head, nice lacing. Big piney hop, mint leaf herbal ground spices aroma. Smooth medium body. Big hoppy yeasty spice flavors here tempered a little by some dusty, bready malts. A huge beer here, i like this one better than the winter Yule. 11127 mjg74 (2001), La Mesa, California, USA

pours golden straw, white head.
aroma, lots of nice fruity hops, mostly grapefruit.
flavor, hoppy, with some sweet spices and some lingering malts and caramel.
Beer is just smooth and silky on the palate, not getting too much of the bitterness. beerbill (1984), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with dirty matini. Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and nicely laced the glass. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and pine in about equal proportion. The flavor is caramel malt up front which is then washed over by citrus and pine hops, with a bit more emphasis on the pine and not as fruity as the aroma. Bitter at the finish but not lingering. As the beer warms, there is an ever so slight alcohol flavor that emerges. Overall a very solid IIPA. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2008 Dark golden in color with a nice large foamy off white head. Clear in look. Smell is fresh grass hops, orange, lemon, and other citrus. Taste is medium to high bitterness, citrus, and grassy notes. Did not even notice the alcohol.
