They tend to either be too hoppy, too malty or too alcoholic. This beer pulls the concept off perfectly. Aroma of strong grassy hops with citrus coming in and out. Pour was a medium brown with a thin white ring for a head. Taste was biting hot with hops taking the main stage and just a hint of malt to balance it out. Solid! Wow, it’s about time this one was separated out, I love it and can definitely notice the difference between the summer and winter editions. Anyway, pours cludy topaz-amber with a fluffy beige head and little floaties. Caramelly sweet aroma, toasty, toffee and lots of ripe summer fruit with huge hops of orange, qrapefruit and pine and hints of alcohol. Flavor is sweet and rich, with toasty, fruity malts, more caramel, bold pine and citrus hops, peppery spice and grapefruit in the finish. Full body, smooth and gentle carbonation. Very good carbonation that keep regenerating the head. Wonderful citrus and spicey aroma. Plenty of lemons and watermelon with some pepper and malts. Color is a bright orange. Wow, bursting with flavor. Awesome, plenty of hops, amazing malt balance, touch of alcohol and simply spectactular. Little bit of caramel in there to sweeten it a bit. Succulent, makes the mouth salivate for more. Finish Is clean and crisp and leaves a light bitterness on the tongue. This is the best IIPA I have ever had. A GREAT BIG THANKS to MAP for this absolute gem!!!. Opened for the first game for the next superbowl champions: The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!!!! thornecb (1814), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

Fluffy white micro head calders as it slowly recedes leaving spider lacing. Fruity pine and resin aromas. Crisp and full with upfront juicy fruit and vanilla/ caramel with a lasting bitter resin finish. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Body is almandine wuth a thick film of bubbles. Taste-magic. Pure magic. Citric zest, pine, raisin, maple syrup, crystal malt, sweet caramel, vanilla. It reminds me of a mild American style BW. Very, very good. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Pours a copper orange with a nice off white head. Nice assertive aroma of caramel and citrus hops. Nice mouthfeel and balance. Earthy malt profile that is semi sweet, countered by crisp and grassy hop bitterness. Some citrus notes come out in the otherwise bitter finish. Very good, but I enjoy the winter Imperial Red much better. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Hazy copper/amber under beige head. Strong grapefruit aroma with hints of pine resin. Good mouthfeel and a pleasant flavor. However, it did not live up to expectations. It’s a good beer and commendable but did not seem like a 100 %ile beer. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA
