Pours a light muddy orange amber with a beautiful, staying, off-white head. Fine lacings. Aroma is very hoppy, some clear apricot, grapefruit, pepper and pine. Wonderful creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is vinious, super hoppiness, some biscuity malts and subdued caramel. Lovely, very long, dry, bitter, fruity and hoppy aftertaste. Perhaps a touch too vinious, but still wonderful. bu11zeye (5608), Frisco, Texas, USA

Poured a deeper and slightly cloudy amber color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of juicy oranges, pine, caramel, citrus, and some melons. Tastes of pine, grapefruit, caramel, melons, and lightly spicy. Nice balance. Light alcohol in the finish. Rastacouere (5561), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Deep hazy amber. Big white head, rocky and mountainous. Huge c-hops abundance. Lots of orange, flowers, grapefruit and pinneaple in the nose, but it’s superbly crafted for me to appreciate this. Those citrus fruits are juicy and creamy. Of course very hoppy palate. Contemplative bitterness. Typical Alesmith malt profile to back it all. Well hidden 8.5%. Medium-thick body, creamy, smooth body. Terrific double IPA. My favorite by far as it stands and I never thought I would rate one this high. I can’t believe how smooth and fresh those hops can be. Thanks again hopsrus Magicdave6 (5552), London, Greater London, England

Taste is similar however slightly lacking in the hop resins and citrus, lychee character im after. Very nice and id love more of this! jcwattsrugger (5541), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 10, 2006 June 2006 release sampled on 7/4/06: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Big fresh citrus and piny hop aroma has a very nice caramel malty balance. Body starts sweet and viscous, turning more bitter, crisp and grapefruity toward the resinous mildly warming finish. Well balanced, flavorful and best enjoyed fresh. A classic double IPA!
July 2005 release sampled on 9/25/05: Pours a transparent copper orange with a wonderfully dense and well-lacing froth of white head. Bright hoppy pine and grapefruit aroma has some alcohol notes. Body starts with some sweet gritty caramel malt and plenty of bittering hops toward a sticky, pine sap, warming bittersweet finish. Definitely doesn’t hide its alcohol as well as I remember. I’d like to let it age so that the alcohol becomes more hidden, but then the hops would fade. Such a predicament. It’s appearance seems to have improved though.
