Although not as fresh as I like my IPAs, still a really nice light floral hop aroma with orange citrus and malt. A smooth texture on tongue lots of orange zest, grapefruit, citrus, a little carmel, and overall just a really nice hop profile dancing on the tongue with a fruity and malt sweetness. This slips into a light warming alcohol with a light bitter finish. Very nicely balanced, a well done IIPA. robinvboyer (1444), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is west coast piney with hints of sweet malt and plenty of hops. Taste is piney sweet with butterscotch and floral overtones and a hint of sweet malt. Excellent overall and nearly identical to the Alesmith Yulesmith Winter IPA. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2006 2006 Bottle, from my last visit to Julio’s before I left Mass (sniff, sniff). Good nose, sweet. Caramel, vanilla. Kind of a toasty grain to it. Butter, not in a bad way though. orange, grapefruit. Clean brownish orange color, Massive head that needed a while to go away. Not sure if it was just residue from the head or it if had good lace too. Bitter flavor, Grapefruit, though not a biting type, Sour, Hint of a yeasty nuttiness. Medium to thick body, smooth oily mouthfeel, bitter finish. Huh, this falls into the sum is less than the whole of it parts(However you say that) Seemed like this was more amber than ipa to me. This was the one I packed in my luggage so maybe that explains it massive foam. I dunno. Tasty enough, didn’t grab me like some of Alesmiths other offerings. Oh well. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2009 Bottle, thanks to my secret santa. Aroma of lots of orange pulp with some crackery malt. Flavor continues with loads of very bitter orange notes against heavy maltiness, sort of grainy, but very sweet-and-assertive grainy. Very pulpy and unclean-feeling, not what I expected from such a highly rated IPA. Kind of odd and just ok for me. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and floral hops. Flavor is well balanced and not too sweet. Citrus hops finish the taste. Great beer! SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA

Nose of sweet hop resin, melons, tangerines. Flavor kicks up the bitterness. Same as aroma with intense citrus rind and subtle caramel and grain. Dry, bitter aftertaste. Palate is a bit syrupy. Full body. Good nighttime brew in the summer. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
