Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Got this from Duane. Thanx 04 bottle. This was a great IPA, I don’t love these, but I am getting a greater appreciation for them. This was hoppy thru and thru.

Pours an beautiful amber color with a large fluffy off-white head. Good lacing. Citrus, pineapple, caramel, hops, and some bread in the aroma. Starts out with a crisp citrus flavor, then to a sweet and juicy pineapple, orange, and caramel. Finishes with hops and alcohol warming. Leaves a very nice flavor in the mouth. Well balanced between hops and malt. Meduim mouthfeel, but still quite smooth. An excellent brew.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a slightly orangish-amber color. There is quite the frothy head on it. There is a big hop nose to this one. Mainly grapefruit to the nose. The beer itself is medium bodied. The hops are present, but not overpowering to the taste. A hint of caramel in the background. Very drinkable. Nice to be able to buy this in Mass.

HOLY HOP HEAVEN, BATMAN! This screams in a lovely way, angelic lupulin scortch. Delightful and with a tingle that heads to the bridge of pain or is that bliss? Must be becuase I can’t help wanting MORE, MORE, MORE until the end......

Bright pine and orange peel hop aroma, though it’s a bit restrained. I should have had this right away. Soft golden hue and a creamy dense head that proudly rises above the glass. Tasty and fiercely bitter, but plenty astringent too. Raw alcohol in the finish. This was out of refrigeration in the store and I had it a few months after the release so while I know it to be good, I imagine it’s much better when fresh. I guess it’s one of those situations where ’very good’ is a letdown.

Hazy, tan in color, loose creamy head. New west coast IPA aroma. Big hop aroma that is also very soft and floral supported by light caramel. Extremely sweet. Big bodied with noticable alcohol. Nice finishing bitterness. Large hop flavor that is also subtle and nuanced. Horizon? Warrior?

GABF 2004. Orange in color, rather clear, with a large, light-brown head. Head is long lasting. Rather light aroma, flowery hops, pine, grapefruit and lightly alcoholic. Average flavor duration is moderately bitter, and has a certain woody characteristic in the immediate aftertaste. Lighter body than I expected (though not bad), slightly oily, with average carbonation.
