Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Pours orange/amber, with a small, white head. Citrus/pine hop aroma, with some malt as well. Taste is hops, pine, and bitterness. Malt is also there, but it kind of in the background. Body is medium. Thanks to sick_boy282 for this summer 2004 edition of Yulesmith.

Maybe just slightly hazy copper-colored body with an inviting, frothy head of an off-white hue. The aroma is bursting with hop character. Sweet malts and mild citrus. The flavor is a bit heavy on the candied orange peels for my taste. The alcohol is pretty evident and it weighs heavy.

Poured a cloudy orange color with a big off white head. Aroma was just all hops, mainly piney. Flavor was very sweet, with a nice strong biting hop flavor in the finish.

Thanks Drewbeerme for hooking me up with a bomber of this. I believe it is ’07 simply because Andrew wouldn’t drink anything else but a fresh IIPA. Copper, hazy color with huge, long lasting, creamy white head. Lots of citrus in the aroma, a little pine, a little grain/grass and just the faintest bit of caramel. Flavor is pine, a little dough, pretty much all juicy/resin hops and some alc and little soap. Med body with a creamy carb feel. Looks beautiful but overall a very unbalanced hopbomb, I keep wanting to like it more than I do.

Beer pours lightly cloudy golden color with a totally retained off white head. Lots of piney hops in the nose; rather one dimensional in that respect, but in a good way, IMO. Taste is quite bitter, with significant citrus hoppiness, also more biting hoppy bitterness in the dry finish. Pretty spicy too. Yum.

Draft at Stone Brewery. Good hop aroma of citrus, floral and tropical flavors. Good balance of hops and malt and enjoyable overall.

Bought a bottle on 7/16/09 and drank it that night. Haven’t had a fresh one of these since ’07. Cloudy orange pour with a big off-white head. Tons of orange in the nose with some pine, grapefruit and sweet malt. Orange and pine flavor up front with sweet malt and a bitter grapefruit finish. Amazing.
