The beer pours out a deep golden brown color with a medium tan head. The palate is very full and coats your mouth. Tons of big hop flavor right up front gives way to a huge malt bill. Poured a deep clear effervescent amber with a large creamy fluffy white head. Aroma is clean hops with hints of candy. Taste is piney hops with a mild malt backbone, adding a touch of sweetness. Lingering bitterness and dryness in the finish. A very nice IIPA, and another world class brew from Alesmith. SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Pours a hazy dark orange with a huge creamy head that lasts forever. Nice drippy lacing throughout the glass. A touch of sweet caramel malt in the aroma, but that is quickly overshadowed by the intense pine and citrus hoppiness. Just a touch of sweetness in the flavor as well, until the hops and alcohol take hold. Super refreshing on the palate. Intensely hoppy. Fantastic! redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Red and Blue bottle. I always thought this was a mix of an IIPA and a BW. A heavy citrus aroma, clings to the glass with lots of malts. A thicker mouthfeel than most IIPA’s, good hop bite with a decent amount of caramel sweet malts. Distinctive. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 26, 2005 wow! this is a gem of a beer... in the big ipa genre pushing up towards a barley wine...seems like many of these styles are blending together these days. a copper haze in the glass with nice carbonation of tan mushroom head. nose mostly of citrus pine hop tones. the alcohol is not hidden in this beer. you get some warm sweet tones through out the beer. suttle apple, bold flavors of pine citrus, grape fruit and vanilla bounce around your tongue. the balance here is what impressed me the back bone was pushed with large malt flavors that corrugate and stick to your soft palate giving a velvety texture. a full thick beefy beer. easier to drink then you would think from my description. simply delicious. piscator34 (1136), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Bottled sampla via (and shared with) oakbluff. Hazy orange in colour with moderate carbonation. Similar to the standard AleSmith IPA with loads of tangerine, pinecone, and black pepper elements. The difference is that there’s a bit more (slightly toasted) malt character, and the floral and grassy (almost mint-like) hop notes are more focused. Great prolonged bitterness, and only medium bodied. Right up there with the best IIPAs that I’ve had. Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy of kmweaver. Pours a hazy, deep amber-orange with a creamy, beige head that reduces to a cap, leaving behind wispy lace. The nose is a nice, big, grapefruit front with a caramel backing and candy sugar coming in at the finish. If they made hop candy, this is what I imagine it would smell like. Medium-bodied and creamy, while on the tongue, the palate transitions to a lightly dry and lingeringly bitter finish. Huge grapefruit hops and a solid, malty caramel backing finish with a green, woody-dry conclusion that hints at a bit of spruce-like hops. This is a very nice beer. It certainly lived up to my expectations, and I will be keeping my eyes peeled for another bottle. Thanks again, Ken!
