Aroma of citrus, pine, malt, hops. Flavor is grapefruit, hops, malt, nice and bitter with enough malt sweetness to balance it out. This stuff is really good. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2007 Thanks MikeTD. Orange pour with huge white head. Aroma is big on orange and citrus. Flavor is really malty, crystal all the way with orange and grapefruit. Toasty but still sweet from the huge amount of crystal malts. Good but I really prefer the winter version. Pours hazy orange/amber with a medium-- head. Aroma is grassy hops and big caramel malts. Balanced taste, with the spicy and tropical hops showing through a bit more. Not nearly the alcohol presence or warmth of the winter brew (which I rated yesterday). Medium++ body. Smooth texture. Nice finishing bite. A winner, if not an earth-shaker. Rating 7,3,8,4,16 = 3.8.
7/4/07 brand new bottle from WeeHeavySD. Huge head. Fresher is definitely better. Big grapefruit and pine hops overshadow the malt. Bitter and almost astringent finish. Rating above. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Awesome big fluffy head over a orangish amber color. Sweet hops smell. Flavor is a bit too present with the alcohol flavor but really isnt horrible. Malt is there to combine nicely with the hops. My palate may be a bit shot at this point but It just isnt the best DIPA I’ve had. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Aroma was of resinous and citrus and some pine and grapefruits. Flavor was the same with also some bread. Was a good beer, not the best i have had from Alesmith."

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2004 Updated: Aug 30, 2006Hey, this was good. Aroma was powerful with grapefruit, followed secondarily by lemon and lite malt in the background. Poured with a frothy head that lasted for a reasonable amount of time. Great bubbles! Amber. Taste: Strong citrus hops with lite pine underneath. Strong chewy, roasted malts. Some spice and leather. Sweet aftertaste with a nice combo of hops and malt. What struck me most was how strong this beer was yet well balanced with both hops and malt throughout the tasting. Good stuff!
Summer 2005 version. More copper than the usual still wonderful looking. The aroma and falvor are still very simular, thought the hops are bit stronger in the flavor. Still excellent, but I don’t think I’ll change my rating either way. Solid!

Very citrusy, hops aroma. Delightful! Chewy. Smooth hops. Wonderful balance. An absolutely amazing IPA. Alcohol is subtle. Could definitely go for a case of this. Thank you again Jeremy. I owe you for this special treat!
