| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2004 Updated: Aug 30, 2006Hey, this was good. Aroma was powerful with grapefruit, followed secondarily by lemon and lite malt in the background. Poured with a frothy head that lasted for a reasonable amount of time. Great bubbles! Amber. Taste: Strong citrus hops with lite pine underneath. Strong chewy, roasted malts. Some spice and leather. Sweet aftertaste with a nice combo of hops and malt. What struck me most was how strong this beer was yet well balanced with both hops and malt throughout the tasting. Good stuff!
Summer 2005 version. More copper than the usual still wonderful looking. The aroma and falvor are still very simular, thought the hops are bit stronger in the flavor. Still excellent, but I don’t think I’ll change my rating either way. Solid!

The flavor is fantastic, it is a bit hoppy, but not too much. There isn’t too much of an aftertaste, which is pretty nice. I really cannot find any fault with this beer. Definetly try this if you get the chance. blankboy (3214), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 12, 2006 My 1300th rating! Bottle, summer ’06 edition. Pours a hazy copper-orange with a large lasting creamy off-white head. BIG aroma of fresh hops, lots of swet malt, some fruit, yeast and spices -- but mostly those wonderful smelling hops! Flavour’s sweet and hoppy, very well balanced and oh so delicious. Starts kind of sweet and then BAM! -- a tasty hop medley, followed by a big, dry bitter finish. This is sooo easy to drink and there’s no sign of the 8.5% alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Simply fantastic, definitely one of the world’s best IPAs. I’m thrilled to have hit another milestone and to have done it with AleSmith, who are still my favourite brewer. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

I may be living in the Alesmith parking lot soon! As I sit here nearing the bottom of my first snifter, at least 35 minutes since the pour, there is still an 1/8th to 1/4 inch of lacey foam. it has a wonderful chewy mouthfeel and the balance is superb. I hope Alesmith comes to Illinois soon! deflagro (100), Lund, Sweden
