Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Pours a translucent golden amber with a medium foamy and lacing off white head. Aroma of orange, some pine and floral hops, caramel, tropical fruits, lots of citrus going on yet a strong malt presence as well. Flavor is a mix of grapefruit, pine, floral, orange and caramel. Starts off hoppy with a great caramel malt to balance...followed by a great hop bitterness. Very well done IIPA.

On tap at brewery, summer 2005 edition. Pours amber in color with good white head. Lots of floral hops in the aroma, but also some caramel malt. Flavor is well balanced between the malt an hops with a little underlying spiciness as well. This beer is awesome.

Pours red-gold with white head. Smells hoppy, tinges of honey, citrus and pine. Medium to thick bodied. Starts off bitter, mellows out but never swetens. Very complex and tasty beer. Thanks to Captain Cougar!

Bottle, bomber: Pours an orange/ruby color with a tan retaining head, spiraling lace . Big aromas, piney and citrus hops on top of sweet malt background. At first all I could taste were massive bting hops, spicy/dry with light fruit, a few more sips revealed a far more balance flavor, with caramel malt, but not overly sweet at all. Finishes hoppy all the way, syrupy grapefruit.

22oz bottle from fordest and hopdog. Pours a very dark amber/orange color with a foamy white head. Nose is big hops, grapefruit and sweet caramel malt. Taste is very thick and malty, lots of grapefruit hops and a good sweet caramel.

Summer 2006 via trade with WeeHeavySD. (thanks!) A very floral, citrus, and hoppy aroma off of the first pour. A nice deep amber color with a medium to small sized soapy white head. Flavor is nice big hop element, some roasted notes, a nice large citrus taste and overall a very well balanced beer taste-wise. Palate is nicely bitter and very long lasting. Overall, A very well rounded and well crafted double IPA. I wish they sold these in Michigan. I would buy them often.

The aroma is of grapefruit and pine. The color is a hazy amber and orange with a lightly golden head. The taste is balanced between the caramel sweetness and pine and grapefruit flavors of the hops. The bitterness while apparent is suprising smooth on the finish.
