Big piney hop, mint leaf herbal ground spices aroma. Smooth medium body. Big hoppy yeasty spice flavors here tempered a little by some dusty, bready malts. A huge beer here, i like this one better than the winter Yule. 11127 jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Bottle, pours a hazy tan/orange color with a large a frothy head. Aroma is HOPS, pine, grapefruit, some fruity notes. Big aroma. Starts with a big burst of hops but settles nicely into slight sweetness of carmel malts, then the hops slowly come back but more fruity and floral. Incredibly big and balanced IIPA, very drinkable and delicious, a fantastic brew. Need to do a blind tasting between this and Dreadnaught. garmonbozia (229), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 13, 2006 Pours an beautiful amber color with a large fluffy off-white head. Good lacing. Citrus, pineapple, caramel, hops, and some bread in the aroma. Starts out with a crisp citrus flavor, then to a sweet and juicy pineapple, orange, and caramel. Finishes with hops and alcohol warming. Leaves a very nice flavor in the mouth. Well balanced between hops and malt. Meduim mouthfeel, but still quite smooth. An excellent brew. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Bright orange color with a nice, fine white head. Super hoppy aroma with sour citrus and spicy vanilla notes. Bitter from beginning to end with a nice, crisp finish and light notes of alcohol; mega chewy hops. Mouthfeel is bubbly, smooth, and not too thick or thin. Super balanced and amazingly fresh... You can’t miss with AleSmith. Rerate - this was one of the first beers I really rated. So, I guess this is an important rerate. Clearly an awesome beer, could use a little sweetness in the middle for balance. Lots of hops for sure. With a little more perspective I’m bumping this down from 4.5 to 4.3. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 14, 2006 Great all around. Pours nice amber color with medium head. Aroma is sweet malt and resiny hops. Nice balaced flavor, yet still maintains great hop character. Finishes bitter and then sweet. Excellent! mattmc1973 (305), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Bomber poured into a tulip. Color is golden custard with fluffy white head, that mostly lasts and leaves very nice lacing. Aroma of very citrusy hops: grapefruit, pineapple, and pears. Aroma also of moderately sweet malt and dough. Taste initially moderately sweet and bitter, finishes long. Medium mouthfeel with lively fizzy carbonation, finishes dry. Great balance of sweet malt, fruit, and hoppy bitterness. Glorious DIPA! KAME (156), California, USA

What can I say, I really liked this beer. Lots of fruit, and very smooth. Hops are noticeable and tasty, but not overwhelming. One of the best IIPA’s I’ve had. I’m glad I’ve got half a dozen of these at home.
