Huge aromas of grapefruit, pine, floral. If pine trees grew flowers that turned into grapefruits, they’d smell like this. Pretty darn hopped up front to back, numbingly so. Balance be damned but there is a solid underlying maltiness, not too sweet, not too thick to verge on barley wine. It’s good. Finishes with a twinge of alcohol, and a touch savory(?). Aroma: hops, lots of hops, grapefruit, grass, pine. Taste: hops, spices, berries, grass, caramel, tea, soap. Finishes with tea-like hops, and dry. Very nice. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2005 I loved this beer. Citrusy and malty and hoppy - all integrated aromas and flavours that linger with a great balanced bitterness. Not nearly as uncalled for as some of the Imperial IPAs being foisted on us - this was a truly wonderful beer. kbjames (242), Utah, USA

Tons of hops in the beer, almost a hit of earthiness. Yeah a strong malt body to it, not thin at all. I would highly recommend this beer verymerrymonk (257), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

This begins rather fruity, then fades into awesome hoppiness. It really dances through the mouth beautifully. snowtiger (106), Brighton, Colorado, USA

The aroma is dominated by piney, citrusy hops with enough malt background to balance. The flavor is a great balance of hops, malt, and alcohol with a lingering bitter finish. Caramel, pine, apricot, and pineapple flavors all pop up. A very good beer. PullMeABeer (203), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Bottled. Pours a deep dark golden, with a dense white head sitting on top. The strips of lace left on my glass are just amazing. Aroma is just a hopheads dream, perfumey/fruity, fresh (you know that fresh hop flavor that makes you want to drink a good hoppy beer all day), citrus, little bit of spice. It takes one sip and your hooked on this stuff. Just excellent. Mouth feel is very round and full, sticky and totally mouth saturating. The hoppy resin goodness seeps into every taste bud, leaving a long lasting after taste. Very rich, sweet, and delicious beer. Too bad its not available year around.
