Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

Cloudy amber pour with a medium white head. Amazing aroma of herbal hops with grapefruit. The flavor has a dominant of hops and bitterness, the herbal hops and grapefruit are there and they are very pleasant, the caramel malt is solid enough to give some balance to the beer, the finish is bitter. The body has a light to medium thickness with a dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Excellent, it’s everything I thought it would be, huge thanks to presario for sending this. Rating #1500.

Pours out a nice deep amber color with a decent beige head. Aroma is very floral and hoppy. Flavor is a nice intense bitter at first and then mellows out to a sweet citrus clean finish. I love this beer. It left me yearning for more like a horny school girl on a hot summers night.

Hazy orange in colour, huge off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruit and hoppy. Has a strong hop presence, with the required maltiness to offset it. Rich, thick mouthfeel compared to other iipa’s. Excellent. A special thanks to Wohlfs for this beauty.

Part of my 9 beer IIPA tasting. 51.1°. Red color with orange tints and a smallish, off-white head. Lots of tears and foam "dots" as the head receeds. Hoppy aroma; piney and herbal. Flavor is hoppy with a mild malt backing. Hops are herbal and piney. Full mouthfeel. This and the Goose Island IIPA were my favorites of the night (and we had 6 of the top 7 IIPA+ #’s 11 & 13)

holy crap, there are alot of hops going on in this beer...starting with the aroma...masssive amounts of citrus and pine in the aroma, bits of wood and caramel. flavor is just as packed with different aspects of the hop profile, backed up the whole way by noticably sweet caramel malts. this is a superb beer, the aftertaste is almost as good as the actual beer. the pour was a copper body with a hugh froth of white, and it just got better until i was looking at the bottom of the glass. thanks to odeed for sending this my way in a trade.

Bottle. Pour is a coppery orange color and sports a pretty large head (about three figners of foam at first). Aromas are mindnumbing. I am fairly giddy at this point as I’m picking up the pine and pineapple that means good IPA hops and a slight caramel backbone from the malt. Flavor is much more bitter that I anticipated. The malt definitely is there and holds the hoppy bitterness in check, but as far as IPA’s go, this one leans to the hoppy end of the spectrum. This is interesting considering that the Winter version heads much more in the malt direction if memory serves me well. Either way, I’m not sure which of the twins I would rather take home.

Aroma of sweet grapefruit. Body had a dark copper color with a lasting big off whith creamy head. Loads of lacing. Flavor had that hop bite and sweet grapefruit. Left a somewhat dry aftertaste after each drink on the palate. Quite a refreshing beer.
