Commercial Description:
YuleSmith is a quenching, hoppy "double" IPA. Appearance: Clear copper color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Flavor: Starts out with a bite of hops, but a perfect balance of maltiness and a dry finish leave you thirsting for that next sip. Aroma: The aroma starts with a heady citrusy and floral feel, and a slight overtone of vanilla. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Warm mouthfeel from the high alcohol content. Feels lush and full in the mouth.

What was it that Popeye used to say? "I’ve had all I can stand, I can’t stands no more"! Well that’s how my taste buds and I feel after the few funky fruit beers & weizens I tried tonight. I need these abrasive hops to cleanse my palate of funky fruit flavors! *A big Thank You to Joshpiledean for this brew! A deep orangey color with a tan head. Great cascade hop aroma with grapefruit rinds& pine needles. A salty sweet rich malt flavor with a thick feel and a good bitter hop middle and aftertaste. Alcohol warming in the follow.

Orange-amber in colour, large long lasting off-white coloured head, great lacing. The aroma is of powerful hops, lots of grapefruit, orange and pine, some caramel malt sweetness. The flavour was very hoppy, lots of citrus (grapefruit), lots of pine, great caramel malt balance. Thick and chewy mouthfeel, medium/large body, high carbonation. Finishes long and dry, intense hops. Excellent stuff.
650ml bottle obtained in a trade with DarkElf, thanks Stephen. 2004 Edition.

Cloudy amber color with a large off-white head. Strong grapefruit hops aroma. Very nice strong grapefruit hops, sweet malt and grape flavors with a very dry ash and grapefruit hops finish. Really good!

Thanks to whoever brought this to the Toronto Christmas Party ’04. Sweet hop nose - rich caramel. Tingly tingly hops. Slightly chocolaty, caramel, pepper, lemon. Bitter citrus/grapefruit. Warming finish.

Bottled. I think this is a summer release of the Holiday Ale. It’s huge and very complex. There is so much flavor and huge hop that it’s like a tap dance explosion on my tongue! Thick creamy head, hugely bitter and certainly not for the whimpy lite sissy yellow beer drinker. This one is for serious beer pros only.

Stating the obvious...but Alesmith did it again with this brew! For Double IPAs this is a close second to the dreadnaught. Awesome citrus and floral aromas, and the taste has has an excellent balance for such an agressive Double IPA. the taste is also riddled with piney resiny hops that are just wonderful. Very good beer, and another fine example of what Alesmith is capable of.

22oz bomber pours a golden yellow with a thick fluffy head. Although not as fresh as I like my IPAs, still a really nice light floral hop aroma with orange citrus and malt. A smooth texture on tongue lots of orange zest, grapefruit, citrus, a little carmel, and overall just a really nice hop profile dancing on the tongue with a fruity and malt sweetness. This slips into a light warming alcohol with a light bitter finish. Very nicely balanced, a well done IIPA.
