Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

Bomber. Pours a hazy dark amber with a 2 finger beige head that leaves splotchy thick lacing. Nose is sweet ripe citrus and floral hops and toffee. Taste is toffee, tangerine, mango and brown sugar with a lingering grapefruit finish. Medium creamy mouth feel. Typical incredible brew by Alesmith.

Bottle. Pours a deep red, with a lacy white head. Complex and excellent aroma of grapefruit-citrus hops, and sweet caramel malts. The flavor is excellent, with similar elements, and a grassy aftertaste. A fairly astringent mouthfeel is a bit of a detriment, but overall, this is a first-class beer.

On tap at Hollingshead Deli in Orange California. Pours with a dark amber hue with a large light brown head that is mostly lasting - the head looks quite nice, actually. Aroma is of oats, hops, yeast, coffee - it really is a full smell encompassing a lot of different aromas. Flavor is hoppy and grainy, with some coffee - a good tasting brew - starts off lightly sweet then has a medium bitter finish. Syrupy texture with lively carbonation! A great brew indeed!

Pours a deep reddish brown color with a big creamy tan head that lasts throughout. Big roasty caramel malt aroma, along with ripe fruit, citrus hops, and a bit of spice. Flavor is sweet, with malt and fruit up front, and a nice bitter hoppy finish with a warming alcohol bite. Easily the best winter brew I have tried so far. Fantastic.

Pours brown with a big foamy head. Aroma is mainly malt. Is some beers are described as "hop bombs", this one seemed like a "malt bomb" to me. Flavor is malt, some fruit - apple, banana, pear? - , touch of spice, and little bitter on the finish. Warm going down but smooth on the palate - not halt. Really nice.

Deep copper red, substantial tan head with generous lace. Aroma is grapefruity hops and caramel, both in abundance. Flavor follows, American hops, worty caramel-vanilla malts, alcohol well hidden. Full, creamy mouthfeel, medium to thick body. A delicious imperialized APA.
