Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

Deep copper red, substantial tan head with generous lace. Aroma is grapefruity hops and caramel, both in abundance. Flavor follows, American hops, worty caramel-vanilla malts, alcohol well hidden. Full, creamy mouthfeel, medium to thick body. A delicious imperialized APA.

22oz. bottle from Consumer Beverage. Pours a amazing looking cloudy dark ruby red with a huge frothy light tan head. Nice lacing throughout with some yeast sediment on the bottom of the glass. The bottle says to not pour the yeast in,but screw that. Hoppy, dark fruity aroma with some slight alcohol hints. A very smooth, full bodied mality mouthfeel. Perfect blend of malt and hops with minimal alcohol prescense. Nice bitter finish. Really solid extremely drinkable beer.

Pow! Flavor! I had some of this on Thanksgiving. BTW what is up with going to MA, to get beer from San Diego? Normally I dont like Amber/Red ale as much as other styles, but doubling helps. This is a really well balanced beer. A lot of hops and a lot of malt is present. I should have bought more than one.

Really apparent what a quality beer this is right from popping the cap. It is a beautiful dark red colour, aromatic hop nose that is not completely carried through in the taste. However the malt and hop balance is fantastic and lingers for a good long time. Wonderful beer.

Didnt register the big hop flavors the description claims, but the malts and balance were there in abundance. Quality ale.

The nose was semi-sweet and rather simple with scents of caramel, citrus and malt. It seems like this was a bit tired and muddled and may have been better when younger.
