Jul 7, 2008 Clear reddish amber color with an off-white head, decent lacing and retention. Beautiful smell of sweet malt paired with big juicy hoppiness. Aroma is rich in fruitiness with some grapefruit hops to balance the sweetness. Taste is one of those things you really need to try for yourself to believe, it’s excellent. Sweet malt and grapefruity hops in the taste, perfect balance in this beer. Carbonation was a bit high in the beginning of the bottle, medium bodied. Great beer from AleSmith.

Jul 2, 2008 Wow. I dont quite know how or where to begin. I’ll put it this way... this beer makes me feel like a kid on Christmas day and I’m Jewish. Absolutely the best balanced Imperial Red Ale I’ve had to date. The flavor is complex, yet hints of cocoa and citrus seem to highlight the mix. This beer is definitely worth it.

Jun 30, 2008 bottle - Pours dark amber with a one finger, very long lasting head. The aroma is of caramel malt, citrus hops, and some light spices. The flavor is a good balance of those rich malts and ample hops along with some woody notes. Sure I drank mine in the summer, but this full bodied brew would be best consumed slowly on a cold night in front of a warm fire. Enjoy.

Jun 29, 2008 Bottled sample via oakbluff. Amber in colour with medium carbonation and great head retention. Aromas of pine, citrusy hops, caramel, and a touch of earth. Flavors of chewy pale and caramel malts mix well with notes of mild citrus, black pepper, pine needles. There was a hint of asprin on the finish, probably due to the age of the bottle. Moderately bitter for the style, with a nice drying sensation on the palate. Very well executed.

Jun 21, 2008 I found this in the new Whole Foods near the Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, AZ. Pours a deep ruby amber and supports a long-lasting stone khaki head. Aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, malt and spices. Nicely balanced flavors of roasted malt, caramel, vanilla and hops disguised as ruby red grapefruit. Rich and silky mouthfeel and a sweet but still clean and bitter finish. I went to Scottsdale for the golf, cactii and... golf but finding this rare brew (which is impossible to get in NJ) was a highlight of the trip.

Jun 19, 2008 This was pretty good, although I think I prefer the summer version. This had a chewy maltiness to it, with some light citrus hops in the background. Toasted toffee and caramel, with a hint of cocoa dustiness in the finish.

Jun 14, 2008 Hazy reddish-amber. Some citrusy, caramel hops and some breadcrust. Really chewy, lots of crystal malt, some light citrus hop. A hint of toastiness and some chocolate notes. Well-made but too chewy for me.

Jun 12, 2008 Dark amber red with a darker beige thick head and serious lacing. Grassy citrus hop nose.Flavor is much like the nose.. grassy floral citrus hops with a lot of malt in there, nutty hints, and some spice too. Crisp spicy carbonation. Found this steal for 3.99 a bottle at Fairway in manhattan.
