Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

Huge head; ruby red. Aroma is good, but a little dull/blunt; nice hop-malt balance. Some pine, some citrus. Flavor is very nice. Very complex hop character. Sweet malt balances this thing perfectly, without making it sticky or cloying. Lively yet soft and smooth mouthfeel. Finish is very piny and earthy; lasts quite awhile.

Pours a beautiful reddish brown with a huge off-white head. The aroma is of sweet syrupy malts and bold spicy citrus hops. A sweet but spicy malt flavor hits the tongue first, followed by a wave of bitter, but superbly balanced citrus hops. The mouthfeel is very lively, lots of very sweet malts and spicy hops dancing on the tongue coupled with a very smooth medium body. The carbonation is just a little bit weaker than I would prefer, but this doesn’t really detract from the experience. Overall a fantastic beer...I’ll have to crack one of these open around christmas time this year.

Pours dark red with HUGE light tan head. Nose of piney hops, caramel malt, some alcohol. Grapefruit, big sweet toasty malt flavor, big pine characteristics, some spiciness as well. Very Balanced. Dry, bitter hoppy finish, but not overpoweringly so. Alcohol burn and warmth. Oily, slightly sticky body, with a lively carbonation. medium-full body. Christmas in a bottle.

Bottle 22oz. Pours deep red with a 2 finger head. Smell of dried fruit, hops, candy sugar and caramel. Taste is the same. Some heat in the taste. Good carbonation that compliments the malt profile. Decent imperial red but nothing compared to the summer edition.

Even opaque reddish brown with a dense and enduring tan head. Sweet hoppy aroma with pine and citrus. Pineapple taste with tangerine finish. Sweet, but not as I expected. Very even-toned, and nothing jumps out. Quite good. Bottle indicates 8.5% ABV $6.75

This beer has a darkish brownish orange body topped off with a huge pillowy tan head. The beer has quite a bit of hoppy aroma with scents of lime, orange, and lemon. There is a little bit of malty aroma, but mostly overpowered by the cascade hops. The flavor is very hoppy as well, with a ton of fresh hops flavor mixed with malt and a bit of spice. The maltiness is a bit overpowered by the hops. New Beer in NYC.
