NobleSquirrel (1100), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 24, 2007 his is quite comparable to the summer version, a bit more balaced, distinct red character coming through in the sweetness and body. decent. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bomber shared with kleyland, courtesy of alexanderj. Pours a murky amber with a medium sized, off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops, some spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). Full size body, a treat to drink. Initial citrus hops taste fantastic and the sweet, caramel malts really dominate the finish of the beer. Nice warming alcohol flavor as the beer opens up. Perfect for a crisp UGA tailgate! footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bottle in trade. Pours a nice dark amber with a dash of foam. This is clearly going to be a treat as I can smell this from 2 feet away. This has more of a fruit profile than the Summer version. Kiwi or something. Loads of hops tho, no questioning what this is all about. Strong citrusy hop flavors with some bitterness and still a great fruity background. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Nov 24, 2007 Pours copper with a fairly dark tan head. The aroma is very malty with bready caramel. It is fairly musty with dark toffee and obvious abv. Medium / full body with fairly gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with barleywine like maltiness, a good amount of caramel and a welcoming alcohol burn. the finish has some woodiness, toffee, vanilla, sharp bitterness, cream and an increase in the alcohol. This is very good, but the summer version wins out for me. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 19, 2007 Updated: Apr 11, 2009Update Rating 4/11/09: 22 oz. bottle - thanks to padrefan98 for the bonus brew and opportunity to revisit;same appearance, etc; hop syrup & dose of spice; raw, malty, syrupy; not so sure this time around; i love a hop bomb, but this has a little much in the syrupy & spice side of things
Original Rating 11/19/07 (4.4 overall) 22 oz. bottle (tasting hosted by after4ever) - dark amber with white head upon pouring; big aromas of malts and hops; malt flavors are thick as well and mixed in with some spice; hop kick is mild; slightly bitter aftertaste; my first AleSmith brew did not disappoint elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark Nov 19, 2007 bottle. it has a dark golden color with a large head. the aroma is pleasant and hoppy. it tastes slightly bitter and slightly hoppy. more sweetness and more xmassy. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 14, 2007 22oz. Pours dark red with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Tremendous lacing - some of the thickest I’ve ever seen. Aroma is piney hops and caramel malt sweetness. Taste is bitter with a tingly mouthfeel. Earthy. Caramel. Sweet and malty. This has a strong sweetness to it that is the least cloying I’ve ever experienced. Really nice malty flavor with enough hop bitterness to even it out. I’m not really a fan of red ales or imperial reds but this is fantastic. Theis (3617), Denmark Nov 13, 2007 Bottle (Sune) at ØLklubben (2006 edition). Clear nutbrown - offwhite head. Nu med mere winter - more winther than the summer edition. Peach, grasst, light roasted, sweetness, light spicy, light cookie. Bitter finish.
