BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 22, 2007 Big dense off-white head on top of a cloudy golden body. Heavy nose of grapefruit and pine with malts displaying notes of caramel and sugars. Sweet flavour behind heavy bitterness. Medium to full body with a nice, creamy texture. The bitterness continues into the long finish. Dry finish. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA May 21, 2007 A bit too cloying here for me. Overall, an intense beer and certainly deserving of an "imperial" status. Other highlights were an aggresive mouthfeel and body, and good pleasant hop profile. Just not enough, however, to balance out the syrupy finish. Not as well done as the winter version. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 20, 2007 bottle....appearance: amber-brown, slightly opaque with with medium ivory head....aroma: sweet, fruity, citrus backed up by what it seems to be a lot of malt....taste: non-bitter citrus hop profile with a very nice, sweet malt balance. excellent mouthfeel and very tasty all around.....a well made and received american strong ale. i would def. drink this one again. rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden May 20, 2007 Bottle. Thanx to Marsiblursi.
Hazy dark orange colour, creamy head. Mandarine and almonds in aroma, orangey sweet. Sweet bitter in flavour at first, then the sweetness takes over, then its bitter again and very much so. Alcohol shows off way too much in my opinion. Mouthfeel is syrupy. Okay, it’s an American Strong Ale, but here’s to a bit more of flavouring hops. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden May 18, 2007 (Bottle, thanks to hopscotch) Pours hazy red orange. Hoppy aroma with fruity notes, almost jelly beans like. Apricots, pine, grapefruit, flowers - mostly roses - and some citrus in the background. Malt brings caramel and toffee. Spicy, hoppy flavour with apricots, citrus and pine. Decent caramelly and syrupy malt backdrop. Soft and round mouthfeel with a medium to full dry finish. Medium sweet and medium to full bitterness. Good. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2007 very nice brew, has a malty/nutmeg/spice aroma to it, dark brown colour with a bit of a fluffy head, nice body, very smooth, sweet, spicy, very nice brew. Thanks to vac for the bottle. mreusch (714), Olathe, Kansas, USA May 15, 2007 Bomber, pours a slightly cloudy deep reddish brown with a pillowy tan head, great lacing. Beautiful in the glass! Hoppy aroma of citrus, light pine and floral and some caramel. Flavor is heavenly, a touch sweet but not overdone, a hops bite and a mellowing malty middle, with a nice finish. Very well balanced and interesting throughout. Palate is a medium body and texture, good carbonation and a slight bitter finish to make sure the sweetness is dialed back. Another great one from AleSmith! johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA May 15, 2007 Poured a dark red almost brown. Big head that was long lasting. Aroma was of citrus and hops with hints of pine. Smells like the holidays. Very hoppy taste that was delightfully smoothe. Excellent balance. What a great brew.. Thanks to dirty martini
