LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 21, 2007 Cold 22oz bottle: Pours a clear pale copper color with a huge fluffy persistent tan head. Aroma is of grass, earth and malt with berry notes. Taste is of rich malts and aromatic hops with notes of citrus and berry. Alcohol is well hidden. Full bodied, smooth and well carbonated. Ending is dry and bittersweet with floral notes. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 21, 2007 Bomber: Pours a reddish orange with a thick rocky off-white head, aroma has citrus, dark fruits, bread and pine, full bodied, sticky texture with ample carbonation, starts and ends bitter with a long bitter-sweet bready aftertaste. masonjer (557), Holt, Michigan, USA Feb 21, 2007 Recieved this on a trade from Crosling. Hazy orange color. Smells sweeter than expected, grapefruit and citrus. Half inch off white head. Taste is slightly hoppy, slightly sweet, pineapple, tropical, citrus, nice balance of hops and caramel malt. Overall, very pleasant well balanced beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 21, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Here’s a beer I never thought I’d see in PA.
The Buildup: Hazy deep ruby pour presented a 2-finger, creamy off-white head with layers of lacing.
The Olfactory Elements: Big tropical fruity and citric hop smell, with notes of mango, pineapple, black pepper, star fruit, and tangerine.
The Tongue Lashing: Richly caramel malty flavor, with a complex cascade of tropical fruit flavors mixed in with the large hop bill. The palate was a bit sticky, very rich, and very complex. It got a tad hot as it warmed, and even acquired a slight Belgian aley note.
The Aftermath: The aftermath saw my liver and kidneys converting this to waste products, and those waste products being passed out of my body as urea. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 20, 2007 Hazy orange, amber colour with an off white head. Malty, light alcohol and caramel sweet aroma with a hoppy pine needle note. Malty, caramel sweet flavor with a hoppy fruity note. Dry bitter finish. minch25 (346), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 17, 2007 Red copper color, thick light brown head. Hoppy aroma. Big hoppy flavor, very smooth and well integrated. Sweet caramel crystal malts. Really tasty. ehhdayton (1113), USA Feb 16, 2007 Pours a clear amberish copper with a dense light brown head. The aroma is balanced between the hoppish qualities of pine, grapefruit, and floral and the maltiness of caramel. Flavor has a caramel maltiness along with a pronunced grapefruit flavor. The beer is full bodied. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 12, 2007 Pour is a matte amber with a nice head of creamy white tiny bubbles. Some lacing. Aroma is hoppy and spicy, but not exactly what I was looking for. It’s a little dull actually. Flavor is a bit better with a creamy combination of malt and hop resin. The finish is sticky, sweet and the malt shines through. I’ll take the summer version.
