ghawener (952), San Salvador, El Salvador May 10, 2009 Bottle: Bought in San Diego, drank with fellow RateBeerians rcasta & ramenen during an Ale testing session in El Salvador. This was the highlight of the day, my first perfect rating! Aroma, body, balance, alcohol level, nose, color, head, all incredible. There even lacing INSIDE the bottle after pouring! petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 light amber mostly clear color, yellow gold at edges. big tall rocky light tan head. nice deep piney hop aroma, very pure. resiny pine cones too. flavor is deep and sweet caramel malty hop, both well balanced at the same time on the palate. aroma of super-dark fresh honey, carmelized hop buds too. lots of lively carbonation. hop bitterness comes in strong through the finish but not too powerful. MitchWayne (264), Kokkola, Finland May 5, 2009 Caramelly and rather malty american strong with a nicely covert hopping that doesn’t come and kick you in the nuts. Chewy pine juice, I wish I would have had this last xmas, this is one kick ass seasonal, suprisingly balanced stuff. Won my heart over, the other drinkers weren’t so impressed. scrizzz (1251), kirkland, Washington, USA May 5, 2009 Crazy pour, a little bit produced a huge head with a strong dusty old basement aroma. Not bad or off, just dry. Hazy caramel in the glass, pale blond head that did not want to settle down at all. More deep concentrated heavy and nearly syrupy malt, and that dense creamy head. There’s a lot of hops here, everything is amped to 200% across the board and there’s not much in the way of subtle. I like the beer for the consistency and intensity, but I don’t get much in the way of personal character. Maybe I saw the 100 and expected more. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Apr 30, 2009 To celebrate my 2600th rating. 22oz bottle @ VV tasting, Odense. Pours a dark unclear amber with a creamy white head and lacings. Nose is heavily hopped with lots of chewy malts. Filling, smooth and full bodied. Caramel, liquorice and hops. Simple, powerful and extremely well made. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Apr 29, 2009 Poured red with a white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Lots of IPA characteristics. Very good. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Apr 28, 2009 Updated: Apr 29, 2009Bottle via Hophead22. Pours a dark (almost brown) amber with very thick qhite head that dissipates quickly. Aroma strong of floral and slightly citrus hops, alcohol, spice, yeast, and pine. Flavor is somewhat of a suprise, very complex similar to barley wines, but with it’s own character. All flavors in aroma present with a few extras of caramel, dried fruit, and malt. Mouthfeel is pleasant and slightly slick. Overall a very nice brew. jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 28, 2009 Bottle at Ølbaren, 28-APR-2009.
If all christmas beers could be like this!
Brownish with beige head.
Classic malty christmas ale topped with loads of hops.
A hoppy christmas ale. Actually somewhat baley wine’ish
Very creamy, and low carbonation.
What a treat. They beat the danish tradition.
