Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

(draft 2003) Opaque copper with big beige head. Aroma is sharp grapefruit. Taste is sweet, big hoppy -- grapefruit with some pine and orange. Thick/chewy full body. Yummy!

22oz bottle in a trade with someone not on the site. One of my favourite breweries. Almost picked this up in Portland OR and kicked myself ever since that I didn’t. Pours a very slight hazy reddy russet with a thick beige head, that lasts and lasts thanks to the carbonation. Drunk whilst watching Australia vs New Zealand in the Tri Nations rugby. The hop aroma is lovely. Great grapefruit piney resiny. Due to the rich red fruit on the malts this balances the hop well. Reminds me of SN Celebration, but this is better. The alcohol isn’t obvious in the beer, but is on my legs. It’s a good hoppy strong ESB style beer. Enormously competent and drinkable even at 8.5%. I do like the combination of strong but balanced sticky hop. But I would definitely have this again. Not overly bitter on end. Considering the amount of hop used, I’m impressed that they never get out of hand. By the way Australia won one of the best games of rugby union that I have seen. God I love those hops.

It’s a hazy, red-brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, figs, fruit, citrus and light spruce. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, fruit, citrus, alcohol and spruce in the finish.

Botella. Cloudy deep amber orange colour. Quite sweet and fruity hoppy aroma with caramel, bt of chocolate and malt. Good sticky mouthfeel. Sweet very hoppy (like hop sirup) flavour witha very nice bitterness, pine, ripe fruits, little chocolate, spice (liquorice) and caramel. Long lasting very bitter sweet hoppy malty finish. Thanks Pinbal for sharing this one.

Reddish brown color, frothy head. Oily hops, grapefruit and red berries in the aroma. Hoppy oily earthy flavor with red berries and grapefruit. Raisin, some warming alcohol. Long oily peppery hopbitter aftertaste. Big in flavor, satisfyingly well balanced.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Tom’s UGT Pt. 2.
An attractive cloudy dark amber colour with a thin white head. Big hoppy aroma with some lovely earthy malt underneath and some nice spice and pepper notes. Similar flavour but with hints of cereal. Nice and dry spicy finish. Excellent mouthfeel, prickly but not over carbed. Good beer.

Bottle. [thank you, Dunk]
Pours clear red-brown with a great, creamy, light off-white head. roma is stunning, Centennial, strawberries, grapefruit, some plums, good maltiness, caramel. Great creamy mouthfeel - really exceptional. Flavour is stunning - pleasantly hoppy, sweet caramel maltiness, vinious, chewy malts and super dryness. Wow, this is great.
