Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

Bottle shared with Fly, Dewbrewer, Humulone_Red and others. Thanks guys!
Other bottle courtesy of WeeheavySD! Rich deep amber pour with a big lasting creamy head. Big hoppy nose with "red" malt as well. Rich sharp hoppy flavor with a creamy balanced maltiness to it. A touch of alcohol is noticeable, but still nice. Carbonation is a tad high, but I find that to be the case with most of Alesmith’s beers. Nice beer.

Sampled at the Knoxville tasting courtesy of Shigadeyo, thanks Craig. An almost borwn pour with a light tan head and excellent lacing. A clen aroma of grapefruity hops. Swet malty flavor with hops and apples and an all over bitter that is an excellent example of hop bitter. A slight carbonation thing kept this from being a 5 on the palate. And excellent palate. flavor, mouthfeel overall excellent. Thanks Craig for the opportunity to try this beer.

Pours a dark amber color. Aroma is rich and hoppy. A little bit of sweet/spice smell. A little alcohol as well. Flavor is hoppy with a malt presence. Seems to be a bit of spice. The alcohol is present but doesn’t harm the taste.

Amber colored with a huge rocky head that sticks around. Strong smell is balanced with caramel and bready malts and a fruity hops. Medium bodied. Taste is a good mesh of lightly sweet malts and bittersweet fruity hops. Nicely done. 012206

’08 bottle pours deep dark brown, off-white head. aroma, grassy hops mixed with amazing malty/caramel notes flavor, attenuated citrus hops, roasted malts, mild spices, caramel, as beer warms up, gains nice dark fruits notes. Overall profile keeps a stronger malt approach while offering a mild hop bitterness addition.

22 oz. bomber. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a moderate yellow/white head that lasted through most of the glass and left partial lacing. Very nice aroma of citrus and pine along with a bit of sweet malt. The flavors are strong too with citrus, pine, brown sugar and malt all present. It just doesn’t seem to come quite together though. There’s also a noticeable alcohol burn which intereferes a bit with the flavor. Dry, hoppy finish.

Pours a copper color w/ a tall well laced white head. Big hop aroma w/ some nice carmel and floral scent w/ a spice piece and possibly hints of vanilla. The palate was creamy light carbonation and well coated. The flavor is a spicy carmel malt and a nice floral taste. A great beer. Thands to ??? for sharing
