Commercial Description:
During the summer, YuleSmith is transformed into a big, hoppy, Double IPA. The enormous load of hops requires a substantial malt background to create just the right balance for a Double IPA. Lighter in color, summer YuleSmith is available around the 4th of July and is packaged in a red, white, and blue bottle. For the winter season, YuleSmith is brewed as an Imperial Red Ale. This version is maltier, more balanced, and darker in color than the summer version. Although quite malty, big hop flavors and aromas are abundant making this an unforgettable winter warmer. Winter YuleSmith is packaged in traditional holiday red and green. Original Gravity Alcohol by Volume 1.085 9.5%

22 oz. bomber. Poured deep crimson with an egg-white head. Solid lacing. Smells like a fresh cut christmas tree. Very complex flavor with resinous pines, juicy citrus fruits and even some cherries. Sweet and malty with great balance. Not overly tongue stripping. Dangerously drinkable. Delicious!

Thanks to AXILLA. Pours a clear brown with a small off-white head and lacings. Quite sweet and bitter. Strong hoppy aromas of resin and a hint of grapefruit. Some alcohold too. Fizzy soft carboantion. Also metallic hints in the finish. Full bodied. Quite long bitter finish with a hint of perfume.

Duane shared a bottle of this with me. Thanks Dad! I’d been looking forward to trying this one and actually didn’t know what I was drinking when I started tasting it. It wasn’t until I was partially done that Duane told me what it was! I got excited just looking at this one though. Big, fluffy head and a great dark copper hue. Strong hoppy and slightly spicy aroma. Very malty and well balanced flavor with just a hint of spices. Another solid brew from Alesmith. Even though I enjoyed the summer version even more than this one, this was still a treat to drink.

22oz bottle pours dark copper with a thick rocky tan head that stays very well and laces in big sheets. Aromas of nice pine and grapefruit hops over some good caramel malts with a touch of sourdough bread. Flavor is good pine and grapefruit but also a lot of pineapple and orange flavors as well. Some caramel backbone to hold it all together. Palate is very barleywine like.. Good body and smooth. I couldn’t find any alcohol in this one... Another fantastic brew by Alesmith.. This brewer never disappoints!

Pours a clear amberish copper with a dense light brown head. The aroma is balanced between the hoppish qualities of pine, grapefruit, and floral and the maltiness of caramel. Flavor has a caramel maltiness along with a pronunced grapefruit flavor. The beer is full bodied.

Dec. 2005 - Beer poured a beautiful dark copper color with nice sustained head and really nice lacing. The aroma was citrusy hops. The taste was citrusy hops with sweet alcohol presence detectable. I’m not a big IPA guy, but this was a nicely made beer.

quite an enjoyable and highly appropriate brew for the holidays and for that matter the winter. full of flavor and balanced yet strong enough to take away the winter chills, or at least make them tolerable. described by the brewer in the best of terms and highly desireable to hop heads and christmas brew lovers everywhere. just great!

65 cl bottle. Reddish brown colour with a nice light brown head. Lovely aroma of hops, such as citrus, flower and freshness combined with a caramel touch. Lovely flavour of bitter hops, caramel, malt, alcohol and with a very soft bit of hops, but plenty of it. A very lovely Christmas beer, I think it will be nice to serve it to "Risengrød".
