Dark beer, but not really Black. Foamy tan head that left attractive lace on the glass. Lots of cereal grains in the nose with chocolate notes. Very light mouthfeel like I would expect from the wheat/oats. Nice chocolate, roast grains and burnt toast flavors. Lingering burnt coffee and burnt toast in the finish. Very easy drinking and tastey beer.

Pours dark brown out of the bottle before settling in as a pitch black in the glass with a fluffy off-white head. Lacing was excellent. Roasted malts and hints of coffee in the nose. The taste is also dry and roasty with dark chocolate and a bit of roasted coffee in the taste. There is definitely a Belgian yeast presence in the background as well. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and highly carbonated with a very dry finish. This is a very nice and different stout from Allagash. Highly drinkable.

750 ml bottle, Batch #4. Pours a black color, which when held up to light, reveals itself to be a very deep brown with see thru edges. 1/2" off white head with some minimal lacing. Nose is malts, some chocolate & yeast. Palate is silky smooth, yet with a fair amount of carbonation. Taste is a funky mix of the Belgian style yeast and the usual stout flavors of roasted malt and chocolate. Very interesting brew. If you get a chance to try it, do it!

750 ml corked bottle-Pours a pitch black body with a decent sized tan head that dissipates into a small ring. Aroma of chocolate, belgian yeast, and roasted malt. Taste of chcolate, coffee, malt, and finishes very dry. This medium to full bodied stout has the champagne like taste in the mouth but is still very well balanced but a bit thin. Another great brew from Allagash.
