| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 9, 2008 On tap at Belmont Station in Portland. Pours very dark brown with a soft khaki head. Earthy roasted malt nose, bakers chocolate and a soft oak and clove note. More of a stout then well anything Belgian style, although the palate was lighter, almost airy which i’ll admit doesn’t fit the stout characteristics well for me. It was a good brew, but when I get roastiness I like a little more body behind it, maybe it helps keep the flavor around for me or something. This felt like more of a quick roasty tease then the higher carbonated and dried out palate flushes that away. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Bottle at stout tasting at bdigi66. Poured a small tan head that was mostly lasting, opaque, no visible carbonation, and very little lacing. The aroma consisted of roasted malts, some hops, sugary, some coffee, and a hint of chocolate. The flavor was malt, sugar, chocolate, some coffee, thin, and watery. Smooth, watery and thin mouthfeel and light-medium bodied. Quaffable, but somewhat on the thin side; however, tasty nonetheless. Worthy of a try if it comes your way. DKTN (110), Mc Donald, Tennessee, USA

Malty aroma with notes of dark fruit and caramel. Very full bodied and extremely well-balanced. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A fun example of this pleasant and rare Belgian stout “style”.
I like:
Very effective palate, authentic carbonation and malt structure. Appropriate roastiness level to avoid any astringency, yet cut through sweetness sufficiently. Sweet beginning, but relatively dry finish.
I dislike:
Not as much character as some to its yeastiness. Some esters manage to peak through, but it never reaches too far, no attempt is being made at integrating a trace of sourness etc – it is mostly limited to plain breadiness, thus losing a lot of its Belgian potential.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2008 On tap @ Mission Pizza, pours almost black with a two finger creamy head. The nose and flavor are very close, with a subtle smokiness, malt sweetness, and a bit of spice and yeast. A bit lively, yet smooth on the palate.
