Crosling (1645), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 3, 2008 Dark brown/black color with a fully foaming and long lasting head of foam. Intricate nose showcases notes of cocoa and roast, as well as dark fruit notes of syrah grapes and blackberries. Flavor has nice balance, but is perhaps a bit sweet. Similar notes as in the aroma, lots of sweet dark red fruit notes. Could have more dark malt notes to improve it. Overall, it’s a well made ale.
caesar (2514), Zeist, Netherlands Sep 6, 2008 Bottled, brought by NoiZe. Batch #4. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of chocolat, coffee, rye. Slight spicy. Bitter chocolat taste. Very nice, especially in its style. skortila (2400), Bunnik, Netherlands Sep 6, 2008 Bottled. Tnx to Noize for the import. Aroma has rye and chocolate. Black coloured with a beige head. Taste is sweet with chocolate malts, has some laurel and with a hint of black currant. Some bitterness. okay. Probably the most belgian stouts are brewed outside Belgium. This might be the reason why the style is called ’foreign stout’. NoiZe (905), Zeist, Netherlands Sep 4, 2008 Black colored brew. Aroma is liquorice, chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, liquorice. Very smooth, nice! joekinty (208), rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 31, 2008 coffee and toffe flavora and aroma with belgian yeast notes a very nice sipping beer thanks Homer321 JohnQPublic (162), Brooklyn, New York, USA Aug 30, 2008 Cask, into Imperial Pint. Pours black with a healthy, creamy light tan head. Nose is cocoa and roasty coffee, with a hint of floral hops mixed in. Taste is so smooth - cocoa and roasty espresso meld with a mellow dark fruit & cherry note, and floral hops asserting themselves just enough to balance, with almost no acidity. Silky smooth, with full but fairly light body. Really fantastic beer when cask conditioned.
