| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 24, 2009 Sample at Carrboro Beverage Co. Pours a pale hazy amber with a two finger creamy eggshell head. The nose is lightly tart, shows some lemongrass, yeasty, light smoke. Flavor is meaty, more smoke than aroma, lightly astringent. Palate shows low carbonation and a misplaced astringency. Rciesla (3670), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2009 In short: A nice toasted Belgian body with a moderately campfire smoke character. Nice session beer.
How: Tap at Great Lost Bear, Portland Maine.
The look: Almost clear copper body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose is moderately smoky, campfire smoke mainly, not bacon smoke a-la Schlenkerla. As expected from an Allagash brew the body pleasantly full, lots of cereals, fluffy yeastiness, lively carbonation. Taste of slightly toasted wheat and cereals, caramel, mild notes pf smoky campfire wood, tree bark, cigar leaf, peat. Despite some of the dirty flavour elements (smoke, peat, etc.) the beer came out surprisingly clean overall. A nice moderately smoky session smoked that stands out because of its nice lively Belgian style body. Would be a nice addition to the Allagash bottle lineup. I hope they start bottling it because I’d like to be able to drink this at home. That place where nobody laughs at me.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2009 Draft at Tylers bottle shop. Orange golden with some off white lace. Nose is smoke, oak, Belgian yeast. The smoke isn’t overpowering but lends an interesting character to the style. Flavor is a bit more smokey, ash, light Belgian sweetness. Slightly one- demensional. Finishes dry. Interesting beer-happy to try! Skeegle (495), Maryland, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Thought this one was particularly brutal. Tasted of hummus and hot dog smoke and little else. It was also scorchingly dry and had an odd taffy brown glowing color to it. Not a fan, had to pour out after three sips.
