Commercial Description:
Allagash Confluence Ale is created with a mixed fermentation; utilizing our house primary Belgian style yeast in combination with our proprietary Brettanomyces strain. The two yeast strains work in tandem creating a marriage between spice and fruit flavors that ultimately leave a lingering silky mouth feel. Confluence is brewed with a blend of both imported pilsner and domestic pale malts as well as a portion of caramel malt, resulting in a complex malty profile. Tettnang and East Kent Golding hops are added in the brew process to balance the intricate malty profile while adding a sweet and spicy citrus aroma. After fermentation, Confluence undergoes a lengthy aging process in stainless steel tanks to enhance the flavors. Prior to bottling, it is dry hopped with a Glacier hops, providing a pleasant balance of aromas. Confluence is then bottle conditioned and aged in our cellar prior to release. ABV: 7.5% Original Gravity: 1064 Recommended Cellaring Temp: 50°F Recommended Serving Temp: 40-50°F

Hazy gold with a very large head. In fact, the bottle was a slight foamer. Bubbles stream like crazy from the bottom of the glass. This is very much like a Duvel or other belgian strong blond in that category, although the Brett that’s starting to come through leaves that bit of funk. Nice beer.

Bottle: The bottle appears to be well carbonated as the cork struck my father in the head as I opened the bottle. Pours a clear gold with afoamy white head. Aroma, cloves, floral hops, Belgian yeasty esters, anise and other spices. Flavor, very dry some spices, floral notes yeasty.

A wild, yeasty experience. Had some on tap at Blind Tiger. Nose of complex yeast varieties. Pours a bright, hazy gold with a decent head. Fruity, with a strong bubblegum flavor and plenty of yeast character. Silky mouthfeel and a somewhat tart finish. Nice stuff.

Bien bon!

Sampled on tap at Max’s in Baltimore. Pours a hazy, translucent straw yellow with a frothy, active white head. A high level of carbonation is evident. Aroma is mostly ripe fruits, pears, apples, a touch of hay and some light brett floating around. Flavor is nice, citrus, lemon rind, orange, hay, grass, slight pepper zing, mild brett, some spice. Finish is dry. I was expecting a lot more. If you’re going to use brett than make it bretty. I suppose it could age well, but I feel like this might be lacking a bit in terms of flavor.

Draft – Max’s. Cloudy gold, creamy white head. Apple cinnamon and grassy apricot- pear aromas ride light undercurrents of bretty funk and yeast. Soft crisp fruity barnyard flavors balance on a touch of peppered honey, straw, and cheese. Quite complex as it nears room temp. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fruity finish. Certainly worthy of your attention….
