Bottled March 2008. Dark golden color with a very tame whitish cover. Bourbon smoke and wood aroma with undertones of tripel yeasty spices. Taste is even better, nice vanilla oak barrel mellowing on top of a potent spicy tripel. Hints of smoke and alcohol warming in the finish.

Bottle from Wade’s Wines in Westlake Village, CA. I thought the Jim added a sweet and full flavor to this Tripel, while the oak smoothed it out. There were also distinct flavors of pear and apple. Great palate, great taste, very filling... Great brew.

[Bottle] Pours a cloudy gold with a medium whitish head. Aroma is lots of wheat malt, some oak, and a little bit of bourbon. Flavor is quite tart from the wheat malt with a bit of sunscreen type flavors and some vanilla from the oak aging. Really wasn’t expecting to like this beer from the oak aging, but it was actually quite nice. It earned itself some style points.

Received through Secret Santa and shared at the MN Gathering II. Pours a semi-hazy golden pale brew with a nice off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing and a thick white ring. Aroma of bourbon, sweet pears, citrus zest, a touch of coriander and vanilla. Taste is almost full bodied with flavors of golden grain malt, candi sugar, yeast funk, pears, a hint of cloves, coriander and, of course, bourbon. Finish has a nice vanilla and bourbon aftertaste with some alcohol warmth.

Bottle from Wade’s Wines somewhere in Ventura County, CA. Poured a gold color and smelled of sweet malts and fruit. Tasted of a little bit of apple and pear with a hint of bourbon. I was very impressed with this brew. Just wish is wasn’t so expensive at 15.99 for 750ml bottle.

Sampled out of the big bottle. Full of strong malts and loads of bourbon afternotes. A excellent brew.

On tap at O’Brien’s Pub 14th Anniversary Barrel-Aged beer night 1/15. A- Pours a light orange hue, off white head is mostly dissipating, minimal lacing S- Brandy and oak dominate, subtle aromas of sugary sweet fruits, some malts and vanilla as well T- Oak and bourbon notes ride in first, subtle molasses and alcohol warming in the midsection, finishes dry and sweet M- Medium-bodied, oily texture, mild carbonation D- Interesting blend of flavors with a strong wood presence, however most of the tastes dissipate quickly leaving not much in its wake, underimpressed with this trippel

Tinged gold pour into a sample glass. Funky yeast aroma hit me right away, but it enhanced the flavor which was had notes of oak and rum. Very good!
