I drank it on an almost empty stomach, and felt its effects just about right away. This tripel pours a cloudy light amber color with a minimal head. But the head lurks with some stickiness around the edges of the glass. The nose is full of fruits, light bread notes, yeast, alcohol and bourbon. The body is generally smooth, but the flavors beg you to carefullly sip. The flavors are very strong and upfront. I tasted notes of orange peel, bread, yeast, alcohol, light floral hops and grass. The flavor I enjoyed the most, though, was the bourbon toward the back end and in the finish of the beer. The bourbon mixed in really well with the other flavors, even bringing out some of the fruit notes. One of the fruit notes that was really brought out was the oranges. The flavors reminded me of enjoying Grand Mariner, but with a carbonated feel. I really enjoyed this beer, even if it kicked my butt a little.

Aroma is nicely sweet, a blend of sweet bread, fruitness and some vanilla. Just a bit of spiciness is apparent along with some yeast. Flavor starts sweet and fruity before gaining a bit of barnyard. Gets just lightly tart along with a more pronounced citric character leading to a crisp but smooth finish and an awesome lingering bourbon almond taste. Medium rich body and a soft carbonation. Really tasty beer, love the finish. Toxygen (387), Sanford, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 25, 2009 golden color and flavor. by that i mean belgian golden ale of course, but with a lot of bourbony-alchl character and even a hint of wood. it’s easy to drink too much of this as it goes down easy for its high alchl. It has a sweet smell that I didn’t notice at first. Tastes like keg beer to me. I can’t taste bourbon. The taste was very nice once it warmed up a little. This beer shouldn’t be drunk ice cold. It is strong so two glasses later what it taste like won’t matter. I would happily drink this again if offered. doboy (206), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Has a sweet Aroma. Pours a yellowish color, and was somewhat cloudy. The flavor of the bourbon was light but nice. You can taste the oak in this beer. blipp (1748), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Bourbony aroma, with yeast and apple skins. The flavor has a nice deep sweet bourbon presence, as well as notes of wood, yeast, and spices. Pretty unique and quite enjoyable. Gethinbeer (1006), Nova Scotia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2009 From bottle. Very clear orange/golden colour with a thin white lace which clings to the glass. Medium carbonation. Crisp fruity aroma, citrus and oranges. Hints of malt and caramel. Flavour is sharp and acidic. A little sour yet has a smooth malt whisky finish. The beer settles to a rather pleasant supping ale. The bourbon seeps its way through to the forefront. sinkr (241), Lusby, Maryland, USA

Pours a huge, white, frothy head that exhibits excellent lacing atop a hazy, orange body. Aroma of butterscotch and a bite of something that I can’t discern. Heavily alcoholic mouthfeel, medium body, a good bit sweet and a short flavor duration. A very nice beer indeed. tpd975 (251), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: It pours a wonderful reddish yellow color with brown highlights. There is a steady stream of bubbles to keep a half finger head present. Leaves behind a nice pattern of lace.
S: Oh yes, I held this one back for a special occasion and I have the feeling it is going to be worth the wait. The marriage of America and Belgium. Bourbon and Beer. Smoke, Vanilla, and Malty Fruity Sweetness. Oh my!
T: This is what I have been waiting for. WOW! This is one fine triple. If that is all we had I would be raving about it, then BAM, Smoke Oak, and Vanilla...Tennessee Bourbon Baby. Oh yeah this one is barrel aged and let me tell you the ageing did wonders. The bourbon taste makes this beer almost too complex to process. There is a perfect match of beer and liquor. It is absolutely AMAZING with the ribs cooked we over charcoal and hickory!
M: Drinks like a Triple kicks like a bourbon on the rocks. A perfect sipping beer.
