Aroma of bourbon, belgian yeast, brett, and slight vanilla. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, yeast, and alcohol. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and quite tasty. Well done.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Has a nice woody, vanilla aroma with slight floral notes. This beer, being a tripel, stands up nice to the aging in oak barrels. IT definitely takes on a nice woody character in the taste, with the whiskey notes coming through but it is not overbearing. I am not huge on tripels as a rule but this one with the added dimension of the bourbon barrel aging is quite nice. Moderate carbonation, nice mouthfeel. Especially good with a nice cheese (bergeron fr. quebec). Overall a good experience, nothing over the top but very good. kangaroo (36), Everett, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2009 On tap at Brouwer’s Big Wood ’09. Orange pour with a moderate white head. Aroma is very much like a granny smith tart apple cider with a touch of something reminiscent of champagne. The flavor is not as sweet as I would have expected from the aroma. The apple sweetness still exists, but I get much more spicy yeast, bourbon, honey, and a very dry, woody finish. Quite tasty, but I felt putting this in a bourbon barrel overwhelms the flavors of this tripel a bit too much for my taste. Still, this has a nice complexity regardless of that. radiomgb (1996), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2009 This is another tripel that has gone become very vinous... this is the newer 2009 bigger abv version. Golden with white foam and chardonnay aromas. subtle wood, nothing citric, the body is light medium and it’s still very delicious but definitely not the deeper, more floral beer of past vintages. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2009 750ml bottle that was bottled in Feb. 2009. Poured a cloudy orange with a thick tight white head . Aroma was wood, yeast, biscuit bready and earthy. Some slight bourbon hints on the nose that really came through in the flavor. Very smooth beer with a lot of complex flavors. Very nice. dmac (1466), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2009 750 ml cork and caged bottle shared by EDA right out of his cellar, the sickest cellar I have ever seen might I add. Poured a slightly hazed nectar golden body sitting underneat a smaller foamy white head. Aroma starts off with lots of fruit (white grapes, pears, greeen apples), old fermenting honey, wood and slight alcohol. Flavors of oak, honey flavored wax, grains, vinous chardonnay notes which is odd because this was aged in Jim Beam barrels and not wine barrels. Medium body with lively carbonation for a barrel aged beer and noticeable alcohol heat but not too much for an 11%er. The aroma is the strong part of this beer and unfortunately the flavor drops off slightly.
