[Courtesy of Storm, session @ yespr] Clear brown with medium off white head. Roasted malt hits the nose with chocolate notes to follow. Flavor is light roasted with sweet and sour notes. Not a good dubbel. But an ok beer.

75 cL bottle, thanks to Storm. Pours hasy brown with a lacing white head. Spiced caramel malt aroma. Flavour is roasted malt, light hoppy bitter with a subdued fruit note. Mellow yeasty note. Ends lingering spice finish. Nice.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a big, fluffy head. The aroma is of malt and yeast. The flavor is quite similar with the sweet malt accented just a little by fruit esters. It’s medium bodied and kind of bubbly. There needs to be some more flavor and complexity there though. Average, which makes it below average for a Belgian style.

Really enjoyed the Tripel Reserve but this one was flat and tasteless. Pretty deep amber with nice 1/2 inch bubbly head, the aroma was all raisons, prune, and fig. Taste is subtle chocolate and cashew...sounds good, right??? Unfortunately, drinking this liquid only made me more thirsty (to quench my palate and wash away what was left there).

12oz bottle consumed about six months after purchase, I’m guessing. I wasn’t sure how well this was going to age - I hadn’t realized this was bottle conditioned until I just looked it up now. Pours a murky brown with a bit of head. The aroma is malty with a bit of spice. The flavour follows exactly the same way, but with the spice more prevalent than was on the nose. Tastes in a similar vein to some winter seasonal beers that I’ve been having recently. Enjoyable stuff.

A great ale! Nice dark color with a very pleasant aroma. Slight nutty/chocalate taste. No alcohol taste and a nice, light aftertaste. Will drink again!
